Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, together with cabinet members,paid a visit to the 2ndTerminal of U-Tapao International Airport in Phla subdistrict, Ban Chang district, Rayong province.The Prime Minister inspected and observed the operation of the Airports COVID-19 Emergency Operation Center (EOC) which has been operating in an efficient and integrative manner with the Operation Center for Airport Security Emergency Situation to provide support to the operation of other concerned agencies in screening passengers entering into the country, monitoring, and sending PUIs to quarantine facilities, as well as liaising and conducting public relations ensure understanding of the incoming passengers on the implemented measures which are efficient and on par with the international standard. According to the decision made at the CCSA's latest meeting, on 21 August 2020, the fifth extension of the Emergency Decree will be implemented for another month, from 1 to 30 September 2020. The Government is working with the balance to protect people's health and revive the economy. This decision is based on the following two main factors; 1. In terms of the legal basis, it is implemented to ensure an effective way to keep everyone safe; 2. In terms of the functional basis, officials will be able to maintain public health and safety. The Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has participated in the third Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Leaders Meeting via a teleconference. The meeting included leaders of all six member countries, namely Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, and China. The meeting is being held under the theme Enhancing Partnership for Shared Prosperity. This is a good opportunity to underscore continued cooperation between member countries amidst the COVID-19 situation. (24/08/2020)
The Consulate-General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Khon Kaen, in cooperation with the Business Association of Thai-Vietnam (BAOTV), opened the Vietnamese Goods Exhibition Center at VT Namnueng Community Mall, Udon Thani, to introduce and develop distribution channels for Vietnamese goods in Thailand. This exhibition center will be stocked with Vietnamese products, which will make it easier for consumers in the Northeast of Thailand to access high-quality Vietnamese goods. Also, the relationship between two countries can be developed by approaching trade and business opportunities. The partners of BAOTV aim to open new exhibition centers in other cities that have Vietnamese residents. Another purpose is the promotion of tourism in both countries. The Northeast of Thailand now has a large number of Vietnamese-Thai communities, with over 70,000 people. (24/08/2020)

Phuket is preparing measures to welcome tourists back to the province with the "4T Model." The model consists of four parts: (1) Target: set clear goals for visitors; (2) Testing: have virus screening at the origin airport, and only persons with negative results will be allowed to depart from the airport; (3) Tracing: have a real-time tracking application; and (4) Treatment: prepare medical staff and facilities to act promptly. Social distancing measures have greatly increased the screen time of Thai children and their exposure to online risks such as fake news, sextortion and cyber bullying. In response to this challenge, dtac has joined with DEPA and the Thai Media Fund to create a Class for Super Kids and Class for Super Teachers. The Class for Super Kids curriculum is designed to boost Thai childrens digital resilience as well as knowledge in advanced technology to prepare them for the digital future. Meanwhile, the Class for Super Teachers offers teaching approach and materials for teachers to administer digital resilience classes. It also helps teachers stay relevant to the online learning environment, which has become the new-normal for Thailands education. (21/08/2020)
The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has revealed that Thailand now has 71 provincial laboratories across the country. The Government aims to let every province have its own qualified laboratory for testing COVID-19. (21/08/2020)

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has revealed that TAT, in cooperation with the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand and Photographer Network Associates, will organize the project "60 photographers to reveal more amazing Thailand photos" to promote tourism in Thailand and to help the countrys economy recover through domestic travel. The project will promote tourism through photos which will be taken by 60 photographers who will travel to several destinations in Thailand and take photos in their own unique style. The selected photos will be exhibited for the public in late September 2020. (21/08/2020)
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has held discussions with relevant agencies in order to accelerate the development of the COVID-19 tracking application for foreigners. The agencies aim to prepare for COVID-19 prevention before Thailand welcomes foreign tourists. In addition, the Digital Government Development Agency has been assigned to develop the application. The agency will expedite development of the COVID-19 tracking application to be ready to use in October. (21/08/2020)
The Department of Fisheries has actively supported sea cucumber as economic live stock to increase its value in the market, which will benefit those who are concerned about their health. This animal is popular for medicinal ingredients and its high supplementary amounts of protein and collagen. The price of sea cucumber can be as high as 7,000 baht per kilogram. Therefore, the Department of Fisheries plans to initiate three projects to develop techniques to cultivate the fish, conserve them, and let them return to nature to balance the ecosystem. In general, sea cucumber can be found around the Andaman Sea, including Phuket and Krabi provinces. (20/08/2020)
The Bangkok International Digital Content (BIDC) Festival is now being held online due to the spread of COVID-19, 18-23 August 2020. It is jointly organized by the industrial sector and government agencies, including the Department of International Trade Promotion, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization), the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, and five associations from the country's digital content industry. The event is aimed at bringing the industry to the international stage, in accordance with the government's creative economy policy. The Russian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Evgeny Tomikhin, appreciated Thailands measures for COVID-19 infection prevention and control, as well as the continuing facilitation of travel for Russian citizens and people from other countries who need to return home during this pandemic period. Russia and Thailand are cooperating in many dimensions, such as education and the economy, as well as public health. Russia also intends to share information and knowledge on its COVID-19 vaccine with Thailand, in order to help the Thai people. Presently, the Embassy of the Russian Federation has a consulate office located in Phuket, and it has proposed opening a new honorary consulate in Chiang Mai. (20/08/2020)

The Deputy Governor of Bangkok has inspected the assembly of seven electric ferries that will be in service at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem canal in December this year. The electric ferries will serve daily passengers who want to avoid congestion on the roads. In addition, there are also many tourist attractions along the line, so it will be easier to visit such venues. The ferry fee will be only 10 baht. (20/08/2020)

The Ministry of Public Health has disclosed that there is progress on the COVID-19 vaccine in Thailand, being developed by Chulalongkorn University's team. It will soon enter the human trial phase. Once it finishes the third phase, Thailand can produce its own vaccine in the Kingdom. In addition, Thailand has also contacted AstraZeneca, the vaccine company, and the Oxford vaccine development team for the production rights to manufacture their vaccine in the country, once it is available. The arts, culture and cuisine of the Southern Thai resort destination of Krabi is to be prominently showcased at yet another domestic promotion event to be held between 26-30 August at The Mud Crab Sculpture Park, Krabi Town. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is supporting the event Visit Art City, Taste Delicious Food in Krabi, along with Krabi Province, Krabi Provincial Cultural Office, Krabi Province Commercial Office, Krabi Chamber of Commerce, NSTDA, and the provincial health and safety authorities. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will step forward to promote the online livestock market and to create opportunities for Thai farmers to become online traders, as nowadays, the growth of online trading through various platforms is greatly increasing. Therefore, the online livestock market would be an important distribution channel for livestock products where Thai farmers can to sell their products. The ministry has cooperated with Lazada Thailand to bring up an online product distribution platform to help increase the marketing channels for selling agricultural products at no cost. (20/08/2020)
The Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) recently announced a collaboration on promotion and adoptionof digital technologies and innovation in the community tourism sector underthe depa mini Transformation Voucher for 2020.The depa hascontinuously provided support of digital technologies and innovation under thedepa mini Transformation Voucher scheme. It aims to enhance the adoption ofdigital technologies and accelerate a broad-based digital transformation acrosssegments in society in collaboration with the depas alliances.The BAAC has publicized thecollaboration with the depa and communicated with the target communitiesabout the initiative to promote the community economy.The selected projects willreceive promotion and support from the depa and they will be furtherdeveloped using digital technologies and innovation to strengthen thecommunities in preparation for the community-based tourism operations at eachtarget community. Tourlane, an online travel agency in Germany, has ranked Thailand as number one among the safest travel destinations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The ranking is analyzed on the basis of (1) the 14-day COVID-19 case reporting rate, according to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), (2) the International Health Regulations (IHR) Capacity Score, (3) population density of the country, (4) flight connections from Germany, and (5) hours of sunshine per day for outdoor activities. The result of the analysis reveals the top 15 countries that meet the criteria and can be considered the safest places for traveling. All top 15 include countries that have not opened their borders yet. (19/08/2020)
The Office of the Basic Education Commission has ordered educational institutes and schools under their umbrella to allow students to express their political opinions freely, but it should be under the principles stipulated by law. The schools should prioritize the freedom of expression and the security of the students by not allowing outsiders to join the students gathering. (19/08/2020)
