Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic, has organized The Magic World of Czech Illustrators for Children Exhibition. The Czech artists illustrations in this exhibition represent the best of the last hundred years of children´s book illustration. Many of them have been awarded the most prestigious prizes at international exhibitions and children´s book fairs. The exhibition will be held 15 December - 17 January 2016 at the Curved Wall, 4th-5th floor, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. (21/12/2015)
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives stated that Thailand was looking forward to the challenges and changes in policies involving rice and farmers. So Thailand will develop rice varieties and encourage farmers to face new competition, especially after ASEAN sets up the economic group and free trade areas, both domestic and outside of AEC. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Thai-Chinese relations, the Board of Investment and the Ministry of Commerce will organize the Thai-Chinese Business Forum 2015 on 16-20 December 2015. More than 200 business people, both Thai and Chinese, from many industries will join this forum. The Government will present one-year performance reports on 23-25 December 2015 to reveal its performances during the past year, as well as its future plans. The reports will include security, economic, social, legal, and judicial dimensions.Every ministry will present its performance report at Government House during the three-day event. Somdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand as guest of the Thai government on 18 December 2015 and will co-chair the 2nd Thailand-Cambodia Joint Cabinet Retreat on 19 December 2015. The royally granted funeral ceremony of the late Supreme Patriarch, Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara Somdet Phra Sangharaja, will be held over a three-day period, from 15 December to 17 December 2015, with his cremation scheduled on Wednesday. On 16 December 2015, the funeral procession will start at 8 am from Wat Bowon Niwet, passing along Phra Sumen Road, Phanfa Lilat Bridge, Lan Luang Road, Krung Kasem, towards Wat Thep Sirintharawas, where the cremation will be held at 5.30 pm. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will preside over the cremation on behalf of His Majesty the King. (14/12/2015)
The BIKE FOR DAD cycling event, led by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn on 11 December 2015, was a great success according to the Prime Minister. The event attracted a grand total of approximately 700,000 cyclists in all 77 provinces of Thailand and 66 cities worldwide. The event also aims to commemorate the auspicious occasion of the 88th birthday anniversary of His Majesty the King on December 5, 2015, and to cultivate national solidarity among Thai citizens across the world. The Royal Thai Government will organize a number of activities to celebrate His Majesty the Kings 88th Birthday Anniversary, 5 December 2015. The celebrations include tribute-paying and candle-lighting ceremonies at Sanam Luang, Trooping the Colors of the Royal Guards, a Garden Party at Government House, cultural performances along Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue, and Thai-Chinese activities in the Yaowarat area. There are many activities in Bike for Dad from 11 to 13 December 2015. One of the highlights is a live exhibition about His Majesty the Kings work of giving to the Thai people. This part will be divided in to 11 zones, which are under the responsibility of many government organizations, around the Suapha Ground. On 11 December 2015, it opens at 18.00 hr. On 12-13 December 2015, it is open 09.00-17.00 hr. Another activity, every day, will be the screening of a 10-minute documentary about His Majesty the King. (24/11/2015)
At the press conference for Bike for Dad on 23 November 2015, a police spokesman said that the Royal Thai Police will provide 31,138 policemen throughout the country on 11 December 2015. Thirty-two police offices have been set up for facilitation and security along the 29 kilometers of the bicycle parade. In Bangkok, there are also 9,070 policemen, as well as 1,071 CCTVs, to monitor this event. (24/11/2015)
The ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children was signed by 10 ASEAN leaders at the 27th ASEAN Summit to demonstrate ASEANs position on tackling the trafficking issue in the region. The ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons aims to promote cooperation among ASEAN member states in protecting ASEAN womens and childrens rights and in preventing and combating trafficking in persons by focusing on root causes, such as eliminating poverty, discouraging factors supportive to human trafficking, and promoting cross-border cooperation and law enforcement. Airports of Thailand (AOT) has increased its security measures following the Paris attacks last Friday. Both Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports have stricter security measures, including the deployment of combined units to inspect high risk areas and a greater frequency of inspection. The Prince Mahidol Award Foundation confers this years Prince Mahidol Award to two individuals. In the field of Medicine, the award is conferred to Professor Morton M. Mower, who is the co-inventor of the Automatic Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (AICD) and the main inventor of the Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) device. In the field of Public Health, the award is conferred to Sir Michael Gideon Marmot, whose research focuses on the effects of race, lifestyle, socioeconomic status, inequalities, and the environment on the health, life expectancy, and risks for diseases both within and between countries globally.
