Chiang Mai province will organize LANNA EXPO 2016 at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre from 30 June 2016 to 6 July 2016. The exposition offers export-ready products and services. Attendees are invited to cultural stage performances and manufacturing demonstrations for goods and services inspired by local wisdom, and give talks on relevant research. (22/06/2016)
The Thai government has launched the Canal Dredging Project 2016 in order to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 70th anniversary of His Majesty the Kings accession to the throne. The government agencies, together with private sector organizations and the public, will conduct canal dredging nationwide, based on His Majesty the Kings royal initiatives on water management and People Public Private Partnership policy to address drought and flooding. H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of Myanmar, will pay an official visit to Thailand on 23-25 June 2016. During the visit, the State Counsellor of Myanmar will have bilateral meetings with Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai. The discussions will focus mainly on issues of mutual interest, in particular labor cooperation, development cooperation, and connectivity. The State Counsellor of Myanmar will also visit the Myanmar migrant worker community in Samut Sakhon, as well as the temporary shelter for Myanmar displaced persons in Ratchaburi. (20/06/2016)
The Ministry of Education launched the Human Rights course under the program "Reducing In-Class Studying to Increase Outside-Classroom Learning." The aim is to give more knowledge to students about their roles and rights as Thai citizens. The course will add in many kinds of activities, such as scouts for both boys and girls, including the producing of handbooks for coaching teachers. (20/06/2016)
Thailands competitiveness ranking in the survey by the World Competitiveness Center of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) shows that Thailand is the only country in Asia that has been upgraded in competitiveness, from 30th in 2015 to 28th in 2016, while Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, and Indonesia are downgraded. This is proof that Thailand has a strong economic basis, although most countries are affected by the world economic troubles. (20/06/2016)
Mr. Koichi Morita, Assistant Executive Director of Bridgestone Corp., and a representative of Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd., will join and exchange their ideas on automotive technology innovation research in The 4th Thai Innovation Workshop Phase 2, hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Thailand. Thailand is preparing to host the 62nd International Congress of Meat Science & Technology (ICoMST) from 14 to 19 August to enhance the country's meat production capacity within the ASEAN region. Over 600 businesses from 50 countries will attend ICoMST. The conference will focus on sustainable meat production, while serving to develop Thailand's potential as a regional leader in meat production technology. (17/06/2016)
The Ministry of Science and Technology is organizing the Food Innopolis Project to attract foreign investors, in the hope of becoming a research and innovation center for the world food industry, and also has come up with more attractive packages to lure investors, such as tax incentives for researchers and easier work permits for foreign workers, as well as financial and technical support. The Government hopes to use the project to turn Thailand into a global hub for food innovation in the future. (16/06/2016)
Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, will pay a visit to the Republic of India on 16-18 June 2016 at the invitation of H.E. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. The two countries will discuss such topics as the transport route linking Southeast Asia and South Asia, a free trade agreement between Thailand and India, and other issues. On 18 June, the Thai Premier will visit the city of Gaya in Bihar State to preside over the Buddhist chanting and meditation under the Maha Bodhi Tree, believed to be the place where the Lord Buddha became enlightened, to pay tribute on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary Celebrations of His Majesty the Kings Accession to the Throne and the Seventh-cycle Birthday Anniversary Celebrations of Her Majesty the Queen . The Ministry of Labor is going to evaluate 478 educational institutions nationwide, in alignment with the safe and hygienic educational institutions project. It is hoped that the project will create awareness of safety, reduce losses arising from fires, and create model institutions on safety.Trophies of Appreciation will be presented to the selected institutions at the 30th National Workplace Safety Week event, to be held at BITEC Bangna, Bangkok, in July 2016. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan will co-host the Fourth Green Mekong Forum in Bangkok. The forum will focus on "Quality Infrastructure and Water Resource Management. Speakers are representatives from government and intergovernmental agencies and local authorities from Japan and the Mekong countries. This is a key activity under the Mekong-Japan Cooperation process, which highlights the significance of sustainable growth and economic development. (14/06/2016)
The Ministry of Public Health disclosed that during the first 22 weeks of 2016, more than 18,000 people have been infected with dengue fever. The highest number of patients has been found in the central region. The Ministry is instructing its provincial offices to take a proactive approach to prevention, to controlling the pandemic disease, and to providing qualified treatment for those infected. The Ministry of Commerce announced that the CLMVT 2016 Forum will take place on 16-18 June 2016 at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Bangkok. The forum brings together the governments and private sector organizations of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand in promoting economic, trade, tourism, and investment growth in each country by tightening cooperation and eliminating barriers.Towards a Shared Prosperity will be the theme for discussions among policy-makers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, academics, and young leaders from the five nations in the roundtable discussions. The Ministry of Health is providing flu vaccines free for 3.1 million people, who are divided into four groups. The first group is women who have had more than four pregnancies. The second is children from six months to two years. The third is patients with chronic disease. The last group is the elderly who are more than 65 years old. This project is open throughout the country from 1 May until 31 July 2016. (13/06/2016)
The 5th White Elephant Art Award Exhibition by Thai Beverage Public Company Limited under the theme of "Love and Relationship" is the exhibition which consists of realistic and figurative artworks, paintings, sculptures, and prints with diverse techniques, materials, and creations. Twenty White Elephant Awards will be given, with the top prize a grant of 1,000,000 baht. This exhibition runs from now until 10 July 2016 at the Main Gallery, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The contemporary art exhibition Thailand Eye, by the Ministry of Culture, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Saatchi Gallery, Prudential, and Parallel Contemporary Art, is a collection of more than 70 contemporary Thai artists works. The aim is to celebrate the 60th birthday anniversary of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the 160th Anniversary of Thailand UK diplomatic relations in 2015. The collection will be presented at the Main Gallery, 8th floor, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, from 18 March to 7 August 2016. (13/06/2016)
The Government Public Relations Department, in cooperation with the Pollution Control Department and Department of Environment Quality Promotion, has launched the project named Public Relations on Waste Management and the Environment. The project aims to provide a forum for the exchange of scientific information and to work on how to create people participation on the current situation of waste management among PR practitioners, researchers, and local people nationwide. The project comprises a two-day seminar, which was held on 10-11 June 2016, and the upcoming event on 29 June 2016 at Siam Paragon, Bangkok. (13/06/2016)
Thailand has been officially certified free of the transmission of HIV and syphilis from mothers to their children. It was said to be the first country in Asia, and among the first in the world, where the rate of HIV transmission from pregnant mothers to their newborns has fallen below 2 per cent. The WHO representative to Thailand said that the Thai governments exemplary efforts extend not only to Thai citizens, but also to migrant populations residing in Thailand, making prevention of mother-to-child transmission affordable for everyone. An exhibition on 24-Hour Eco Lift is being held from 8-11 June 2016 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC). The exhibition features display of environmental-friendly innovations, products, and services from over 200 Thai and foreign leading firms, public agencies, state enterprises, and SMEs entrepreneurs. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is going to develop ICT infrastructure nationwide in order to encourage the use of digital activities in daily life, such as e-Learning, e-Books, e-Libraries, and e-Medicine.
