The Ministry of Health has implemented the pilot project on Day Care Service for Elderly People in Nonthaburi province. The pilot project, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), focuses on providing care for three groups of 60 elderly people. The three groups comprise a socializing elderly group, a non-socializing elderly group, and a disabled elderly group. (22/04/2016)
The Ministry of Commerce is going to organize Organic and Natural Expo 2016 on 23-26 July 2016 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok. The exposition aims to promote the image of Thai organic products and services domestically and show the potential of Thai organic products, as well as to provide producers, entrepreneurs, and regional agents with more knowledge about production. The Ministry of Labor has announced that it is very important for Thai workers with a medical record of tuberculosis to make sure that they have received treatment and are cured. If signs of abnormality in the lungs are found in medical checkups abroad, those workers may face being returned to Thailand immediately. (22/04/2016)
The Ministry of Commerce and the Software Industry Promotion Agency will jointly organize the Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2016 under the Government's policy to promote Thailand as ASEAN's digital content hub. The event will be held between 22-24 April 2016 at Siam Paragon under the theme "Digital Content on the Rock." (21/04/2016)
Hotel entrepreneurs still believe that the tourism industry will recover and be higher than the same period of last year, although this is the low season of the year, especially after the Songkran Festival. The reason for the recovery is the increasing numbers of Chinese and Middle East tourists who choose Thailand for their destination. The occupancy rate for hotels in Bangkok is expected to reach 90 percent. (20/04/2016)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is organizing the first Downtown Market at Suan Pakkad Palace in Bangkok on 22-24 April 2016. Apart from quality products including Thai dresses, silks, souvenirs, Thai herb products, and ornaments, there will be demonstrations of fabric hand-weaving, stone-set bowl-making, puppet-making, and more. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha recently sent a letter of condolence to his Japanese counterpart, Shinzo Abe, expressing his deepest sympathies to the people of Japan following the devastating earthquakes last week. The Ministry of Culture will organize The 1st Bangkok Art Festival from 19 March to 15 May 2016 every weekend (except on 16-17 April), at 16.00 hr.-20.00 hr. in front of Ratchadumnoen Contemporary Art Center. The aim is to use culture to develop products and services in order to raise economic value of art, to enable artists and their networks to have more space to display their works, and to extend their reach to ASEAN. Police are gearing up for security operations during the Songkran festival, focusing on accident and crime prevention. The Immigration Bureau has been assigned by the National Police Chief to carefully screen all travelers entering Thailand and coordinate with international intelligence agencies to keep out transnational criminals and ill-intentioned individuals. The Ministry of Industry has set up a database system to track industrial waste by using the application GPSHZW DIW, which can check the position of waste transportation 24 hours a day. In this way, the smuggling and improper disposal of waste can be caught and controlled. This will start in July 2016. It is also estimated that 470,000 tons of dangerous industrial waste per year will be coming through this system. (12/04/2016)
The Ministry of Transport, through the Department of Highways, provides a smart phone and tablet application program for checking routes and traffic conditions 24 hours a day. This facilitation program can be downloaded on both iOS and Android systems. (12/04/2016)
The governments tax deduction campaign has been launched from 9 to 17 April 2016. The campaign is expected to increase the rate of spending during the Songkran festival. The incentives apply to food, tour packages, and hotel rooms offered by VAT-registered operators, with deductions up to 15,000 baht in tax returns. The campaign has also been approved to extend to the end of the year. (12/04/2016)
Based on a digital economy policy, the Thai government is going to initiate the National e-Payment Master Plan for implementation this year. There are four ongoing projects that will be implemented step by step, as follows:Any ID project, e-Tax system project, e-Payment system project, and e-Commerce knowledge project. In the Any ID project, Thai people would use this system for integrating the mobile number, bank account number, and ID card number to facilitate the transfer of money between individuals. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has developed e-Authentication to be used for the purpose of electronic government and commerce. E-Authentication is the process of establishing confidence in user identities electronically presented to an information system, which is very important for developing the digital economy in Thailand. The 83rd anniversary celebrations of the Public Relations Department will be held on 3-4 May 2016 at the Public Relations Department Auditorium, in Bangkok, with Minister Attached to the Prime Ministers Office (M.L. Panadda Diskul) presiding over the event. The two-day event comprises a sports competition, PRD To Be Number One Exercise Parade, and a keynote address by Dr. Surin Pitsuwan and Mr.Vikrom Kromadit. The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) is now preparing to print out the final draft of the new Constitution of Thailand. The printed documents comprise the full text of the draft (1,200,000 volumes), the essence of the draft (6,000,000 volumes), and the essence of the draft in brief (17,000,000 volumes). Based on a national referendum on 7 August 2016, ECT has launched the application named TASUPPAROD, or pineapple eyes, to be the channel for monitoring this matter. The users are able to register complaints and grievances concerning unusual situations in the national referendum. (11/04/2016)
Airports of Thailand (AOT) is ready to serve passengers traveling through its six airports during the Songkran festival. The number of passengers has been estimated to reach four million during that period. Meanwhile, a passenger facilitation centre will be in operation from 8 to 18 April 2016 at Suvarnabhumi Airport to ensure safety and to provide convenience for passengers. (08/04/2016)
The Ministry of Labor has initiated the mobile application named Smart Labor. This application comprises the following services: job vacancy seeking, pension saving information, complaints and grievances concerning welfare of workers, and vocation and training center seeking. The mobile application can be downloaded through both iTunes (for iOS) and Play Store (for Android). (08/04/2016)
The Department of Cultural Promotion and the Thai Rice Foundation under Royal Patronage will organize Thai Rice Innovation Competition Award 2016 from 1 April to 31 July 2016. The objective is to stimulate the use of all forms of knowledge, science, and technology to develop innovations in Thai rice, which would raise the value of Thai rice. Improving rice processing products would also create new opportunities to expand the economy. (07/04/2016)
The Ministry of Energy invites people to save energy, with the slogan Switch off, adapt, remove, and change, which means to switch off the unused appliances, set the air-conditioner to 26 degrees Celsius, turn off and unplug unused electronic devices, and change to electricity equipment with a Number 5 rating. This project will run daily from 20 March to 30 May 2016 at 14.00-15.00 hr. (05/04/2016)
