The Tenth Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia was recently held in Bangkok. Apart from the discussion of several issues of cooperation, both sides have signed the MOU on the Establishment of Transit and Reception Centre for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Groups in Poi Pet, Banteay Meanchey province. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has come up with a four-phase digital landscape covering the next 20 years, with a view to developing the country into a fully digital Thailand, in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 policy. The four key phases comprise human resources, research and development, and agricultural and manufacturing development by utilizing ICT to enhance competitiveness. (02/09/2016)
The Thai government will organize the 13th National Herbs Expo on 4 September 2016 from 10 AM to 8 PM at IMPACT, Muang Thong Thani, in order to promote the country's herbal medicine industry, as part of the government's strategic economic policy. The expo includes over 30 free workshops on traditional medicine, exhibitions on research and innovations, business consultations, and showcases of herbal medicine. (02/09/2016)
The Ministry of Defense is holding the Medicine-Humanitarian Assistance and Diaster Relief Joint Exercise 2016 (AM-HEx 2016) at the 14th Military Circle on Ko Sichang Island and U-Tapao Airport in Chonburi province between 1 and 11 September 2016. The event is co-hosted by Thailand, Laos, Japan, and Russia, and it is also attended by military officials from China, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India, and the United States. (02/09/2016)
The National Science and Technology Development Agency will organize Thailand Tech Show 2016 under the theme S&T for Thailand 4.0 on 8-10 September 2016 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC). This event is the platform to display and disseminate research, technology, and innovation. In this way, it will motivate the link for research work and benefits of research to business and give more channels for entrepreneurs to extend their business to international markets. (02/09/2016)
The Department of Highways has launched the No. 9 (Motorway) Special Highways Public Service Center at Thap Chang Toll Gate. Route suggestions, maps, hotel information, toilets, and other facilities will be provided here, so that travelers can relax during their journey. The most important objective is to reduce accidents. The Ministry of Public Health is going to set a new goal to increase the number of nurses to around 36,000, in order to provide better medical services. Because the demand for medical services has increased, the Ministry is going to make an effort to raise the standards as well as the number of medical services nationwide. (01/09/2016)
The Ministry of Public Health hosts The 13th National Herb Expo: Thai Herbs for a Brighter Future of Thailand from 31 August to 4 September 2016 at Impact Muang Thong Thani. Apart from sales of herbal products, there are also exhibitions on economic herbs, anti-climate-change herbs, and global wisdom, as well as demonstration on research and innovations from seven groups of entrepreneurs: herbal medicines, food supplements, cosmetics, spa business, raw materials and extracts, animal products, and production technology. The Government Public Relations Department will organize a press briefing and study tour on the topic Thailand 4.0 Economic Model on 8-9 September 2016. The press briefing will be given by Deputy Minister of Commerce, Dr. Suvit Maesincee, in his keynote address at the Golden Tulip Sovereign Hotel on 8 September 2016, at 09.00 hr. The participants will go to Phetchaburi province to observe the local way of living, organic banana farming and processing, and a project to develop Phetchaburi as a creative city. (30/08/2016)
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security will establish a recording studio called S2S Studio. The project is under the Blind Music Foundation. It will be a place for the blind to produce musical works, to gain more knowledge about music, and to practice and enhance their musical skills. Importantly, this studio is a learning center and a music practice studio that will help blind musicians to become comprehensively professional musicians. (26/08/2016)
The Astana Expo 2017 will be held from 10 June to 10 September 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Thailand will join the event through the Ministry of Energy, thus providing an opportunity to exchange energy data, to create energy networks, and to learn the trends of world energy development in order to plan Thailands energy strategy for the future (26/08/2016)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed the public that the Zika virus situation in Thailand remains unchanged, according to the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health. There have been no reports of prolonged or continued Zika outbreaks or infections among a large number of people in Thailand. Despite the fact that confirmed cases of infection have been reported, the disease control and prevention processes are in place. Most cases are promptly detected, so the spread of the virus is under strict and effective control. (26/08/2016)
More than 10,000 free WiFi spots for public Internet service will be provided in remote areas, as a way to raise the level of Thailands infrastructure. People in the remote areas will be able to find high-quality Internet connections, as well as the members of the public in the city. In addition, there is another Community Digital Center Project to connect online business markets with producers and farmers. This will provide more channels for agriculture products, community products, and OTOP products, which will lead to more orders. Community products will be developed on a Common Platform so that people can choose community products more easily. (25/08/2016)
Ministry of Social Development and Human Security launched three publications. The first is Family Comes First, which aims to show family members how to live together happily. The second is Five Stair Steps, is aimed at people wanting to follow their dreams abroad; it gives the basic arrangements for living abroad. The last one is Interesting Vocabulary, which concerns social development; it creates clarity and good understanding of the meanings of words in social development work. (25/08/2016)
Bangkok: Delicious Food City Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, will be held on 2-5 September 2016 at Siam Paragon Center, Bangkok. This event has two main purposes. The first is to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queens 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 12th August 2016, and the second is to disseminate the intangible cultural heritage on Thai food to visitors from around the world. The Royal Thai Army has organized "Thai Army Innovation Day" to support research and inventions that could be used for military purposes. The event gave out awards for military inventions and support equipment, including the invention of custom titanium bone replacements by Phramongkutklao Hospital. (25/08/2016)
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha visited Roi-Et province on 24 August 2016. While there, the provincial authorities proposed the Roi-Et 4.101 economic development model, which aims to reinforce the provinces economic sector and to promote revenue generation and new opportunities, as well as improve peoples quality of life. The Ministry of Labor announced that insured persons are able to register and report themselves for unemployment through the internet. From there, they can submit the 2-01/7 form and documents for unemployment benefits at the Social Security Office. They may also report themselves at the Employment Office once a month. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation is preparing a national reform plan for national parks. The reform plan will focus on research, public participation, and enhancing conservation capabilities through the establishment of an ecosystem conservation fund and collaborating with neighboring countries in cross-border national parks management. The student representatives from Yothinburana School, who are the winners of the 7th ASEAN Quiz which was held on 5 August 2016 by the Government Public Relations Department, will compete in the 7th ASEAN Quiz in Lao PDR. The quiz is one of the methods to promote ASEAN awareness among youth, enhancing people-to-people friendship within the region. The ASEAN Quiz has taken a place at the National Culture Hall in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on 24 August 2016. (24/08/2016)
