Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha visited Roi-Et province on 24 August 2016. While there, the provincial authorities proposed the Roi-Et 4.101 economic development model, which aims to reinforce the provinces economic sector and to promote revenue generation and new opportunities, as well as improve peoples quality of life. The Ministry of Labor announced that insured persons are able to register and report themselves for unemployment through the internet. From there, they can submit the 2-01/7 form and documents for unemployment benefits at the Social Security Office. They may also report themselves at the Employment Office once a month. The Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation is preparing a national reform plan for national parks. The reform plan will focus on research, public participation, and enhancing conservation capabilities through the establishment of an ecosystem conservation fund and collaborating with neighboring countries in cross-border national parks management. The student representatives from Yothinburana School, who are the winners of the 7th ASEAN Quiz which was held on 5 August 2016 by the Government Public Relations Department, will compete in the 7th ASEAN Quiz in Lao PDR. The quiz is one of the methods to promote ASEAN awareness among youth, enhancing people-to-people friendship within the region. The ASEAN Quiz has taken a place at the National Culture Hall in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on 24 August 2016. (24/08/2016)
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha officially opened the Si Rat-Outer Ring Expressway on 22 August 2016. This expressway, 16.7 kilometers in length, will alleviate the traffic load from the Si Rat expressway, beginning from Kanchanaphisek Road, crossing the Rama VII Bridge, and ending near Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new campaign to promote the tourism industry by inviting German-Thai actor/model Mario Maurer. Mr. Maurer is a Thai superstar with influence among fans around the world and he is also a representative of the young generation. This campaign will be conducted by using many tourist destinations, Thai food, and Thai culture in order to increase everyones awareness of how to enjoy Thailand. (23/08/2016)
The Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is organizing a press briefing and study tour on Thailand 4.0: National Development on a Value-Based Economy. The event aims to create awareness of the need to reform the countrys economic model in order to enhance the countrys standing to become a high-income country through promoting a knowledge-based economy, based on research and development, science and technology, creative thinking, and innovation. The event will be held on 8-9 September 2016 in Bangkok and Phetchaburi. (22/08/2016)
The Ministry of Commerce has organized an SME products fair on 17-19 August at the ministry's head office in celebration of its 96th anniversary. The fair features products made by businesses the ministry has supported. There are 170 booths selling locally made products, organic products, products with geographical indications, intellectual property products, commodities, franchises, and exports, as well as quality products made by inmates. The Ministry of Public Health, in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, stated that medical and wellness tourism in 2016 has been implemented by showing that Thailand is well-positioned to benefit in terms of market share of the global healthcare travel. The Ministry believes that medical tourism will be primed for accelerated growth as more travelers seek new types of treatment, as well as higher-quality care. (19/08/2016)
The Ministry of Science and Technology will organize the Thailand Tech Show 2016 on 8 -10 September at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center to stimulate the commercial utilization of research, and encourage entrepreneurs to enter the market of technological business in Thailand. The Thailand Tech Show 2016 will show more than 183 research projects covered all groups of industry. The highlights of the projects include dengue test kit and telescope with a high magnification. The Ministry of Education, with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Institute of Physical Education, are cooperating on a joint sports classroom for the second semester of 2016. The aim is to develop Thai students who have high ability in sports. The project is free for high school (Grade 4) students throughout the country; 80 students from each province will study sports science and sports art at the Institute of Physical Education in Sukhothai, Krabi, and Maha Sarakham provinces. A contemporary musical theatre show, Dragons Heart, the Musical (Special Edition) will be presented by Anatta Theatre to commemorate the 100th birthday anniversary of Puay Ungpakorn, from 18 August until 4 September 2016 at 19.00 hr nightly (except Mondays and Tuesdays). The Aging Society School will be established in 898 districts throughout the country by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security. The plan will respond to the aging society of the future. This school will be the place to gain more knowledge, develop life skills, and provide activities to help the elderly to join society and the community, learn new innovations, and have the opportunity to show their abilities in skills, knowledge, and experience. This school will be involved in life quality development and elderly career enhancing center, with one school in a subdistrict of each district. (18/08/2016)
The BACC Exhibition Department and River Books, BACC Project Sponsors: the Crown Property Bureau, the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited and Thai Airways International Public Company Limited will organize Unseen Siam, Early Photography 1860-1910. More than 150 old Siamese photographs, taken by both foreign photographers and Thais from the beginning to the end of King Chulalongkorns reign, will be displayed from 8 September to 7 November 2016 at the Main Gallery, 9th floor of Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The objective of this activity is to promote performing arts in order to link artists and the public, as well as to encourage dialogue and the exchange of ideas between artists and audience. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports announced that Thailand and Vietnam are going to boost cooperation on tourism. The mutual agreement plan will be initiated to improve tourism cooperation and to promote cultural understanding as part of efforts to improve the longstanding friendship between Thailand and Vietnam. There is a drive to enhance the experience of tourists visiting the two ASEAN nations by sharing information on visitor preferences. (18/08/2016)
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha attended the 1st International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy on 16 August 2016 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. During the discussion on Transforming Nations through Creativity and Innovation, the Prime Minister touched on the fact that Thailand is in the process of reforming the country toward Thailand 4.0 or a Value-Based Economy. The Government has initiated the 20-Year National Strategy and 12th National Development Plan guided by His Majesty the Kings people-based Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. (17/08/2016)
The Royal Thai Police has initiated a campaign named DARE to combat drug abuse, as well as to raise public awareness about environmental problems. The campaign was also launched to honor Her Majesty the Queen. More than 650 students joined the campaign. The police officers volunteer for educating student and youths about drug abuse, violence, and the environment. (16/08/2016)
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam disclosed that during the two years of Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-o-chas administration, Thai laws have truly been reformed concerning modernization, decentralization, corruption eradication, and access to legal and justice services for the benefit of the people. He also said that the Prime Minister has confirmed that Article 44 of the interim constitution will not be used to intervene in the judicial administration. (16/08/2016)
The Ministry of Commerce will hold a conference with the directors of International Trade Promotion Offices to determine the export goals and strategies for 2017 in accordance with the Thailand 4.0 strategy and the Governments 20-year national strategy.
