The Ministry of Public Health has organized the program Do Best Deeds for His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej for the celebration of the ministrys Foundation Day anniversary on 27 November 2016. There will be many activities, such as paying homage to the late King, making merit, blood donation, and the Green and Clean Hospital program, as well as a meditation retreat from 29 November to 1 December 2016 at Wat Bang Phai, Bang Rak Yai, Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi. There will also be the ordination of 89 new monks at Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, Bangkok, on 16-31 January 2017. (25/11/2016)
The National Innovation Agency, Ministry of Science and Technology, will organize a seminar on The Kings Philosophy Moves Forward to Sustainable Development and an exhibition on Fathers Innovations. The event runs from 22 November to 2 December 2016 at the 3rd Floor, Eden Zone, Central World. The aim is to help the public learn more about science, technology, and innovation through 70 years of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadejs philosophy. (25/11/2016)
On 22 October 2016, the cabinet approved a decrease in the visa charge at Royal Thai Embassies and Royal Thai Consulates and reduce temporary visa fees at immigration checkpoints, to increase the number of tourists in Thailand. The fees will be in effect from 1 December 2016 to 28 February 2017. (25/11/2016)
The National Innovation Agency is planning to push start-ups of halal food in the southern part of Thailand, to make it the Halal Hub in ASEAN. New halal entrepreneurs are interested in food business development, both food innovation and e-commerce. It is estimated that the project will run in 2017. This project not only supports the economy in three provinces in the South, but it also helps local people in these areas to gain more benefits. (25/11/2016)
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the meeting of the National Water Resources Board on 23 November 2016. Apart from several issues agreed upon, the Premier handed over a policy that water management has to be systematically implemented in line with the 20-year national strategy to create common ground with the public on the Governments efforts to attain water resources security. The Prime Minister added that the Government is the main body responsible for undertaking plans related to water management based on His Majesty the late King Bhumibols royal initiatives. A series of concerts in memory of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej will be held by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on 26-27 November 2016. Jazz in the World Heritage will take place at Wat Phra Ram in Phra Nakhon Sri Ayutthaya province, while Jazz on the Beach will be held at Laem Tan, Chon Buri province. The performances will celebrate the Kings love of music and his musical talents. Admission is free of charge. (25/11/2016)
Authorities announced that the express boat Tha Tien Pier will be closed from 24 November onwards, so people are recommended to use the express boat service at Rachinee Pier and Sapan Bud Pier. The ferryboat service at Tha Tien will still be available. Additionally, since 1 December, the Song Satit Nai Duang Jai Thai Niran exhibition will be moved from the National Museum to the National Theatre so that the Fine Arts Department can prepare to build the funeral pyre for the late King. The 23rd edition of the Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) and Bilateral Exercise -- which is a coordinated patrol by the Royal Thai Navy and the Indian Navy twice a year -- is taking place from 16 November to 25 November 2016 at Port Blair. The two navies patrol along the International Maritime Boundary Line in order to keep this essential international shipping lane safe and secure for commercial shipping and international trade. The Indian ship INS Karmuk and Dornier aircraft entered Thai waters on 22 November 2016 to participate in the closing ceremony on 25 November 2016. (24/11/2016)

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation is taking measures to prevent forest fires, especially in the northern region. The cold temperatures in winter increase the risk of forest fire. Therefore, the department has provided officials to patrol in the risk areas, encouraged the farmers to bury their crop waste instead of burning, and forbidden fire activities outside the controlled areas. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has announced that Thailand will reduce its visa fees, including those for visas on arrival for 3 months, starting on 1 December 2016, to boost tourist arrivals. The fees will be cut to Bt1,000. (23/11/2016)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reported that there are 8,857 mourners who have lodged at the Thai-Japanese Bangkok Youth Center since 16 October 2016. Persons who come from the provinces, wishing to pay their last respects to the late King, and do not have any place to live may contact officials at the joint security cooperation command at Sanam Luang. To facilitate the public and the visitors who would like to visit the royal initiative projects, the Department of Highways, under the Ministry of Transport takes is modifying the entrances of the 50 royal projects of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej with the budget of 50 million baht in 2017. The details of the work are trimming the branches, adjusting the level of the road surface, road maintenance, making more lights, and putting of direction signs. (22/11/2016)
The Joint Operations of Medicine and Public Health Center of the Ministry of Public Health and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, with the cooperation of the National Institute for Emergency Medicine (Erawan Center) and other 43 public health organizations, plan to prepare the health services for mourners who go to pay their respects to His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej in both normal and emergency situations. The Government is planning to send its committee on illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing to the European Union to provide information on new developments in the efforts to eradicate illegal fishing activities. It is the Governments strategy to report to the EU regularly in a bid to show their serious commitment to fending off illegal fishing. They hope to remove the yellow card from Thailand in the next assessment in January next year. (22/11/2016)
The artists in Chiang Rai province are organizing an exhibition on His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadejs childhood in Switzerland. The exhibition is arranged by Apirak Panmoonsilp, a famous Thai artist, and a group of artists in Chiang Rai to express their loyalty to and appreciation of the late King. It is now open at the Art Bridge Chiang Rai in Chiang Rai until 17 December 2016. (22/11/2016)
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, on 22 November 2016, led the Cabinet members and government officials to sing the National Anthem at the grounds in front of the Thai Khu Fah Building, Government House. Then the Premier led the gathering to take an oath of allegiance in front of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadejs portrait and sing the Royal Anthem. These same ceremonies had also been organized in the provinces and in the foreign countries where there are Thai embassies. (22/11/2016)
The Ministry of Labor has accelerated national labor reform in order to promote the next generation of Thai industry, in line with the Thailand 4.0 policy. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has held the 27th Youth Rights Forum under the theme "Be Smart & Safe Online" in order to encourage youth and children to use the online contents properly. The minister said that this activity would help the children further understand how to use social media in the appropriate way, as well as make the parents more aware of the online media available to their children. The upper northern provinces are working with the State Railway of Thailand and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports' provincial offices to develop unique tourism identities. The special tourist train service -- which is a 4-carriage train decorated with images of local identity from the participating provinces -- will transport tourists through Chiang Mai, Lamphun, and Lampang to many tourism attractions in the area, including natural attractions and historic attractions of the Lanna Kingdom, in order to present the artistic and cultural aspects of the local communities.
