Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha ordered all government units to develop Thais 4.0 in order to be prepared for and keep up with the changing 21st century. The Premier stressed that the key to mobilizing Thailand 4.0 is to develop Thais 4.0, the people who will attain more knowledge and higher skills with responsibility for society, Thai identity, and capabilities for modern technology. The Ministry of Public Health invites all Thais to have a free medical check-up at hospitals close to their houses on 1-15 January 2017. In 2016 there were 27,069 patients who died from stroke. The number is increasing, which will cause higher health expenses for the nation. (04/01/2017)

The general public is invited to visit the exhibition Photographs through Instagram for Condolences to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. People who sent photographs of the late King Bhumibol to enter in this exhibition will be given pictures of King Bhumibol that had been created from photos through Instagram at the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand every day except for Monday. This exhibition is running until 8 January 2017 at the curved wall, floors 3-5, and the Exhibition Ramp, floors 7-9, Bangkok Art and Culture Center. (02/01/2017)
In honor of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Bangkok Art and Culture Center and Foto United are organizing an exhibition titled 20 Poems and Photographs: In Remembrance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The objective is to express how all Thai people are feeling during one of the greatest losses of the Thai nation. Chiang Rai province is organizing the 13th Chiang Rai Dok Mai Ngam from now until 31 January 2017 at Suan Tung and Khom Nakhon Chiang Rai, Mueang district, Chiang Rai province. Apart from delightful rare winter flowers, visitors can view an exhibition in honor of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, as well as the late Kings flower painting contest, performances of his musical compositions, Japanese Ikebana flower arrangement, and Bai Si performances. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun extended his best wishes to all Thais in his New Year message released on 31 December 2016. His Majesty said the country suffered a great loss in October 2016 with the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. He however felt overwhelmed, having seen people of all genders and ages keep showing up in full force to pay their respects to the royal remains. This, he said, reflected the good heart, gratitude, generosity and patriotism in all Thais. Residents of Libong Island, Trang province, came together in garbage collecting activities. This event is under the Dum Nam Ruam Jai waste management project to honor H.M. the late King Bhumibol and prepare the island for the New Years holiday. Locals and tourists are flocking to the 75th Anniversary Flag and Lamp Park in Chiang Rai to see the beauty of the winter botanical garden. The Government Lottery Office is planning to increase the number of lottery tickets from 65 million to 68 million tickets from 17 January to 1 February 2017 and will continue to print more tickets until the number reaches 71 million before 16 February 2017, to ensure a sufficient amount for small retailers. The Ministry of Interior has opened a center to prevent and reduce road accident. The center will instruct local administrative organizations to increase safety at high-risk spots such as railway crossings, merging lanes, junctions. The Ministry of Energy will organize Thailand Energy Saving Expo 2017 on 11-13 May 2017 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Bangkok. The event will be ASEANs largest international exhibition on energy-saving products and technology, and will position Thailand as a key hub for the promotion and for the increasing awareness of energy-efficient products and technology within ASEAN. The Ministry of Science and Technology is going to push forward Food Innopolis as a global food innovation hub. The Food Innopolis is established at Thailand Science Park in Klong Luang district in Pathum Thani province, which focuses on research, development, and innovation for the food industry. The ministry plans to attract more foreign investors to the project by providing attractive packages, such as tax incentives for researchers and easier work permit procedures for foreign workers. According to Government Spokesperson Lt. Sansern Kaewkamnerd, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed satisfaction with the country's exports in November, which was valued at 18.91 billion US dollars. The figure is 10.19 percent higher than in the same period last year and is the highest growth rate in nine months. The Interior Minister has urged motorists to follow traffic rules, be considerate to others on the road, and refrain from driving under the influence during the New Year holiday. The Metropolitan Police Bureau unveiled an application "Police i lert u" to be an accident/emergency notification channel via smartphone. The public can take pictures of accident locations, notify accidents, report traffic, report damaged roads, and other incidents on roads. The notification will be sent along with GPS location of the sender to the traffic police nearby. They expect that the application will help solve traffic problems. (28/12/2016)
The Ministry of Culture encourages Thai people to pay homage at 10 temples in Bangkok that are associated with the 10 kings of the Chakri Dynasty. The 10 temples include Wat Ratcha Orasaram, Wat Arun Ratchawararam, Wat Pra Chetupon Vimolmangkalararm, Wat Rajapradit Sathitmahasimaram, Wat Rachabopit Sathit Mahasimaram, Wat Suthat Thepphaararam, Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, Wat Benchamabophit Dusitvanaram, Wat Praram Kao Kanchanapisek and Wat Vachiratham Satit Worawihan. There will be free bus services between these temples from 31 December 2016 to 2 January 2017. (28/12/2016)
