The Ministry of Tourism and Sports will organize tourism road shows in foreign countries, encompassing the United States, China, the United Kingdom, France, and Iran. The Tourism and Sports Minister revealed that the number of foreign tourists has increased steadily, especially tourists from China. Therefore, there is an expectation that income tourism will reach 2.7 trillion baht in 2017. (30/01/2017)
Government Spokesman Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd disclosed that the flooding situation in the southern region had improved in seven provinces, namely Ranong, Krabi, Trang, Chumphon, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Yala, and Narathiwat. He also stated that the Command Center for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has worked with provinces and is proceeding with damage assessment, rehabilitation, and assistance in terms of labor, agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and industry, such as providing legal and tax benefits, and making sure that basic infrastructure and facilities, such as roads, electricity, plumbing, schools, and hospitals, are maintained in good condition. The Office of Traditional Arts, Department of Fine Arts, has designed the mold for a sculpture of Khun Thong Daeng, His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadejs pet, to be placed beside the catafalque in the royal crematorium. Moreover, numerous sculptures of gods and mythical creatures will also decorate the crematorium, in emulation of the holy heavens. (30/01/2017)
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has initiated the e-Visa project in order to encourage freedom of travel, encourage policies for growth, and encourage sustainable development for tomorrow. In this coming February, a series of stage plays, collectively called Sounds of Love, which portray the royal duties of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, will be on stage in several universities as follows: Bangkok Thonburi University (1 3 February), Rajabhat Suansunandha University (4 6 February), Kasembundit University (10 February), Bangkok University (17 February), and Rangsit University (24 26 February). To commemorate His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the Ministry of Labor is organizing Community Technical Centers to respond to Thailand 4.0 by using King Bhumibols Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy as the guideline. The first center was established in 2007. The center has been developing human resources by providing knowledge and career advice, and strengthening the network between family and community to make both stronger. Technical teachers are on hand to advise and give knowledge and training to people in the community, especially in the area of repairing electronic devices. The Phuket Cultural Provincial Office has invited Thai students to participate in the creative video competition campaign, under the theme Tam Roy Por, or Following in the Late Kings Steps, to honor His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, on 26 January 2017, observed the flood situation in Phunphin, Ban Na Doem, and Khian Sa districts, Surat Thani province. The Premier gave relief bags and financial support to the flood victims at Surat Thani Power Plant. The Premier also presented a long-term flood prevention policy to the Command Center for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Surat Thani. (27/01/2017)
The Ministry of Culture will host a concert in honor of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on 31 January 2017 at Thailand Cultural Center. The Thai Youth Orchestra and several Thai choirs will perform well-known pieces such as Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings, Gabriel Faures Paradisum, and John Rutters Requiem. The Ministry of Industry, in cooperation with the Board of Investment, will organize a seminar on business opportunities in Thailand on 15 February 2017 at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok. The Tourism Authority of Thailand, with the cooperation of the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority, will organize Thailand Tourism Festival: TTF 2017 under the theme Thai Life Tourism, Smart Style on 25-29 January 2017 at Lumphini Park, Bangkok. Tourist attractions, which include the identity of 77 provinces, will be demonstrated through culture, tradition, lifestyle, and local wisdom. The Ministry of Energy will organize Sustainable Energy and Technology Asia SETA 2017 on 8-10 March 2017 at BITEC in Bangkok. SETA 2017 is a three-day international conference, exhibition, and networking event, expected to be the leading platform for experts and policy makers from ASEAN and overseas in the field of sustainable energy and technology. This years conference will address a range of critically important themes in sustainable energy and technology today: (1) Sustainable Energy Policy and Planning, (2) Low Carbon Electricity Generation, (3) Green Transport and Logistics, and (4) Smart Cities and Green Industry. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Chulalongkorn University recently signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on renewable energy planning and policy development in the Lower Mekong region. The partnership will focus on studying the impact of distributed solar energy pilot programs in order to promote the use of renewable energy resources in the region. (25/01/2017)

An 18-year-old Thai youth from Pattani province, Hasan Samoh, has won the international Quran reading competition held in Khartoum, Sudan on 13 January 2017. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha praised him for bringing prestige to the nation. Phuket International Airport is now improving its "in-line" screening procedures at security checkpoints to prevent problems with delays. This new operation will be completed on 15-25 March 2017, with remaining security standards for an international airport. The Ministry of Industry, in cooperation with Thailand Knowledge Park, has launched the project named Young Ambassadors for Thai Food in order to nominate 12 Thai students to promote Thai food in Singapore on 2-4 February 2017. To mark the 130th year of Thailand and Japan diplomatic relations this year, many activities have been planned to celebrate the occasion. Around 120 priceless artifacts and antiquities will be sent to Japan to go on display in museums in Kyushu and Tokyo, while Japan will send more than 130 artifacts to Thailand in December. Moreover, the Ministry of Culture will host a special exhibition in Kobe, Japan, in February, presenting the royal activities of H.M. the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the mourning of people around the world.
