The Ministry of Culture has set up Cultural Performances on the Occasion of the 130th Anniversary of the Establishment of Thailand - Japan Diplomatic Relations during10-15 May 2017in Tokyo, Japan. Since 26 September 1887, cooperation between the two countries has flourished, covering the economic, political, social and cultural aspects in order to strengthen the countries' ties. (09/05/2017)
Since 10 May 2017 marks the Vesak Day, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun will perform a religious ceremony at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Also National Buddhism Week has been launched on 4-10 May at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok to promote Buddhism among the public. (09/05/2017)
The Government aims to increase the planting area of high-quality Hom Mali rice in 21 provinces, to 300,000 rai, and to plant more than1 million rai of organic rice within three years. It also urged farmers to employ innovation and technology to increase the product's value and support the market's demand. (09/05/2017)
Thailands Board of Investment disclosed that, based on the BOIs seven-year investment strategy (2015-2022), BOI has given importance to promoting the countrys investment in research and technological development and human resource development, as well as upgrading Thailands industrial standards. BOI has recognized that the country still needs a continuous stream of investment, so the key to driving the Governments policy successfully is being able to provide the highest tax incentives and attract more foreign investors. The tax incentive would be an important tool to stimulate investment in major industrial clusters, and the Government will simplify the regulations for the public sector to facilitate business operations, in order to achieve Ease of Doing Business in Thailand. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha expressed his delight as the Mastercard Asia Pacific Destinations Index 2017 survey ranked Bangkok as the top tourist destination in the Asia-Pacific region. There were 19.3 million tourists who traveled to Bangkok in the past year. Moreover, Bangkok is the most-visited city, with visitors staying a total of 87.6 million nights, and it is the number two place for visitors to spend money, after Singapore. (08/05/2017)
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has granted the people permission to access the royal area, the Dusit Palace, for participating in activities every Saturday. On 6 May 2017, the Bureau of the Royal Household's officers will teach the making of sandalwood flowers at the Sanam Suea Pa Building, free of charge, at 10:30 a.m. A musical performance to honor the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej will start at 7:00 p.m. In the event, the King will also distribute 500 sets of offerings to the King Rama V statue. A high pressure system from China that is now covering the northeastern region and the South China Sea will bring tropical storms to the upper part of the country. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) disclosed in the road show 2017 in Dubai that TAT has initiated the LINK project, in which L represents Local Experiences, I for Innovation, N for Networking, and K for Keeping Character. The Ministry of Labour organized a forum on rights, welfare, and protection for people with disabilities in Thailand. According to statistics from the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, reported on 31 December 2016, more than 200,000 employees in Thailand are people with disabilities. The ministry aims to encourage employment for the disabled and to raise the public's awareness of rights for the disabled, as well as providing them equal career opportunities. (03/05/2017)
The Ministry of Commerce disclosed the direction of the digital development to drive the countrys economy during the period 2017-2021. The direction aims to develop trade systems, to make them more effective in line with technological changes, strengthening the role of consumers to create bargaining power with traders, and promoting the creation of a consumer network by using social networks. The Ministry of Interior will organize the Thailand Best Local Product Fair to encourage local entrepreneurs around Thailand. The event will last for three months, from 4 May to 24 July 2017, at Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem Market, with different themes each month: Forward Greater Innovation in May, highlighting innovative processed products; Healthy Nature in June, promoting safe agriculture; and Local Tourism in July, displaying products from tourism villages. The 30th ASEAN Summit concluded on 29 April, with nine ASEAN leaders participating. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha encouraged ASEAN members to go forward with stability and sustainability, highlighting a people-centered ASEAN. The Thai Premier also stated that ASEAN should build up concrete cooperation to reduce tensions in the region, and comply with international laws to maintain international peace and security. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun is gravely concerned with the well-being of southern residents following the recent flood crisis and has frequently dispatched his representatives to the region to distribute aid. His Majesty the King granted an audience to Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha and other government officials at Amphorn Satharn Villa, Dusit Palace, where he presented the group with a monetary donation of 40 million baht to help with the rehabilitation of flood victims in 12 southern provinces, namely Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Narathiwat, Trang, Surat Thani, Phatthalung, Krabi, Yala, and Satun. The money had been raised from sales of diaries and greeting cards that contained artwork by the King. (29/04/2017)
The Support Arts and Crafts International Center of Thailand (Public Organization) will hold the eighth "Identity of Siam" fair to honor His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit for supporting Thai arts and crafts. The event includes an exhibition presenting the royal duties of the late King, the Queen, and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn, and exhibitions of "unseen" handicraft arts and the inheritance of Thai arts and crafts. It will be on from 27 to 30 April at the Fashion Hall and Lifestyle Hall, Siam Paragon, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (28/04/2017)
