The Government aims to resolve the corruption problem in Thailand, so it will open a P.O. box and hotline for reporting the issues that involve authorities. This project is the responsibility of the Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Army and the secretary of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). All reported issues will be sent to the Prime Minister's Office to be investigated, and legal action will be taken against wrongdoers. (14/07/2017)
The Government Public Relations Department (PRD), on 13 July 2017, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) on broadcasting cooperation. The MOU will be an opportunity for two organizations to work together to bring reliable knowledge and information to public households through productions of news and program teams, exchanges of news contents, and programs covering multiple dimentions. Deputy Prime Minister General Tanasak Patimapragon recently announced that the government plans to turn Thailand into a medical hub for foreign tourists by enhancing services at all levels of healthcare facilities, and providing special stay permit for visitors receiving medical services. Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister Admiral Narong Pipatanasai said that Thailand has seen an increase in the number of foreign visitors here to receive medical services, as Thailand provides a high standard of medical services. However, visitors may face visa restrictions. Therefore,the new stay allowance that now allows visitors from Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and China who have come for medical services, as well as people traveling with them, to stay in the Kingdom for a maximum of 90 days. Secretary-General of the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP) Raweewon Bhuridej recently revealed that the 41st Session of the World Heritage Committee in Poland approved the report on the state of conservation of the Dong Phayayen - Khao Yai Forest Complex and the Historic City of Ayutthaya, concluding that both sites have been properly preserved. The committee also approved the listing of Phra That Phanom in its preliminary list of UNESCO World Heritage Site candidates. Nakhon Phanom province will now need to submit the necessary documents to officially list the site. (13/07/2017)
The Department of Internal Trade organized King Fruits Paradise of Thailand: Durian Festival @ Udon Thani at the Udon Thani Vegetables and Fruits Center Market. It is the third opening of the Magnet Market after the opening of three markets in Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Bangkok. High-quality fruit, organic agricultural products, fresh sea food, and food processing products for all Thai people and foreigners will be found in this market. The Ministry of Transportation, Civil Aviation Training Center, and Thai Airways International Public Company have set up the Aviation Training Center, which is the core of aviation personnel production in Asia-Pacific Region. It has been certified by many aviation organizations for its standards, innovations, high technology, and protection of the environment. The agencies are the International Standard of European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Moreover, U-Tapao International Airport will be the new aircraft repair center for planes in the domestic and Asian region. It will become an aviation hub in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) to respond to the growth of the aviation industry and domestic logistics. (13/07/2017)

This festival will be held on 8-16 July 2017 at Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok, Sriracha district, Chon Buri province. Pichit province will hold the Tradition Long Boat Race, which is the first race in the country to win a royal trophy from His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun in 2017. The event will include the royal ceremony boat parade, a variety of foods from One Tambon, One Product projects, and a light and sound concert throughout the event. It will be held on 23 September at Nan River, near Wat Tha Luang Royal Monastery. In addition, there will be a cheering contest for a royal trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Chiang Rai province will hold the tradition of Akha Swing ceremony at the Akha village in gratitude to the Um Sa Yae goddess, who gives moisture and abundance for crops and plants. Together, Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Dejnarong Suthicharnbancha and Metropolitan Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Sanit Mahathavorn recently presided over a meeting for a charity project, which aims to bring together royal agencies and public volunteers for social service activities, in accordance with the royal initiative of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. Intending to honor His Majesty King Rama X while dedicating the merit to His Majesty the late King Rama IX, this project is set to be piloted in communities within a five-kilometer radius of the Dusit Palace, from 28 July to 3 August 2017, before expanding to other parts of the country. Persons interested in taking part in the campaign are welcome to register at Sanam Suea Pa from 23 to 27 July 2017. (12/07/2017)
The Bank of Thailand (BOT) has asked commercial banks to help small exporters hedge against the volatility of the baht by cutting the cost of hedging, while Senior Director of the Bank of Thailand Financial Markets Department Ms. Vachira Arromdee recently revealed that current volatility in the exchange rate is not affecting Thai exports. She also advised businesses to import machinery and technology while the Thai baht is strong. In the meantime, the Export Import Bank of Thailand (Exim Bank) is expected to find solutions for exporters by offering protection for SMEs against unpaid invoices through the company's receivables contract. The Department of Mental Health has revealed that 1.5 million Thais, over 15 years of age, are faced with depressive disorders. And 1.3 million out of that number have a major depressive disorder. The department is concerned that many people with mental illness, and their families, lack knowledge about their condition and refuse to receive treatment because they think that a depressive disorder can be cured without any treatment. Many also believe that people with mental illness are "lunatics," so they fear admitting to a problem. This year, the department focuses on increasing awareness in communities via the village health volunteers, who know their community the most and can encourage people with mental illness to receive proper treatment. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha asserted that the rubber price will adjust itself according to market mechanisms and other factors, such as interest rates and oil prices. He noted that the government had already implemented aid measures for rubber farmers and associated businesses by providing special loans for the purchase of fresh rubber. The aid measures also include extensions on loan repayment periods for agricultural institutes, the creation of a buffer to stabilize rubber pricing, and the establishment of rubber development funds to support entrepreneurs in the industry. Farmers are also encouraged to cultivate other crops, especially those that can generate year-round income, as well as to adopt agricultural methods from the "Smart Farmers" model. (11/07/2017)
The exhibition "The Great King of the Country and Philosopher of Waters," to honor His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, which had been held at the Dusit Palace courtyard, is now open for the public. The exhibition includes a khon performance, niello ware showcase, the sale of products from the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, and more. The exhibition will be open every day, from 10.00 hr to 19.00 hr. On Saturdays it will close at 22.00 hr. (07/07/2017)
It has been reported that there are 11 Zika infections in Phichit province, with 18 more individuals being monitored for the illness and another 12 pregnant women under close observation. However, another 27 reported cases of infection have yet to be confirmed. The Ministry of Public Health has revealed that it is likely that Zika will now be a seasonal sickness that occurs during the rainy season, when mosquitoes are more prevalent. It seeks community understanding that the Zika virus is transmitted by mosquitoes in the same way as dengue fever and is actually less severe than the now common seasonal illness, with the most concerning impact being on pregnant women. Medical Sciences Department Director-General Sukhum Kanchanaphimai recently revealed that the National Control Laboratory for Biological Products, Thailands laboratory for the quality control of vaccines and biopharmaceuticals, is recognized as a World Health Organization (WHO) Vaccine Quality Assurance Laboratory, out of 12 government vaccine quality-control laboratories operating worldwide. Moreover, the National Control Laboratory for Biological Products is the only WHO-contracted laboratory among ASEAN member countries and is one of two WHO-contracted laboratories in Asia. The Department of Skill Development, Ministry of Labor, is cooperating with the private sector to provide elderly care training courses to Thai workers. The department also stated that during the year 2015-2016, it had organized training for over 800 workers in the field of elderly care, which therefore helped increase the number of employed persons in Thailand. The Transport Co., Ltd believes that there will not be a problem with moving Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak) to the old Mo Chit Bus Terminal because passengers can travel to the Mo Chit location by using various modes of transport. They plan to develop bus and station system management to make a smart station that has a modern system to facilitate passengers, as is done at Shinjuku station in Japan. The company also urged the Ministry of Transport to conduct an impact study and consider factors such as traffic congestion and the need to provide buses leaving the terminal with direct access to Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha recently stated that problems related to foreign workers need effective and timely solutions in order to remove Thailand from the list of countries caught up in illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities. This would also help with the effort to prevent human-trafficking operations. In the meantime, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon said that the latest meeting of the National Council for Peace and Order and the Cabinet resolved to postpone the enforcement of the Executive Decree on the Management of Migrant Workers B.E. 2560 by six months, during which time the Labor Ministry has promised to put everything in order.
