The Government Public Relations Department will organize the Dream ASEAN workshop on 12-15 December 2017 at Swissotel Le Concorde hotel. The workshop will be attended by 24 representatives from ASEAN Member States, with resource persons and guest speakers from around ASEAN. Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has scheduled a visit to Trang province this 8 December to follow up on the flood situation, which is impacting eight provinces of the southern region. The province has been one of the hardest hit, owing to its position south of Nakhon Si Thammarat and damage to its earth dyke. A high tide in the sea off of Trang has also slowed drainage of flood waters. The PM intends to find a remedy for the situation during his visit. (07/12/2017)

The Industry Transformation Center, Ministry of Industry, in Chiang Mai has been open since 2 December 2017. This center will be divided into two sections. The first involves creative industries, to serve as an advisor for packaging design, fashion design, and graphic design, as well as business problems, finance, equipment service, machinery, hardware, and software. The second section involves the agriculture food processing industry. There are machine services for entrepreneurs and people who are interested in creating and testing model products. The Rice Department, with the cooperation of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will organize Thai Rice Festival 2017 on 15-20 December 2017 in front of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration building. This festival operates under the New Rice Festival project, which will take place around the time of the cultivation of new rice, especially Hom Mali Rice 105. It creates the connection of farmers and entrepreneurs under the Q standard rice system (GAP), GI rice, cosmetic rice production, and rice for health. Lastly, it is a source of public relations for Thai rice among Thai people and foreign consumers. Moreover, Thai culture, tradition, and arts will be also disseminated in this festival. (07/12/2017)

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in cooperation with Chiang Rai province, will organize the 5th Amazing Tribes of Mae Sai event on 8-12 December 2017 in Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province. The event will showcase the cultures, traditions, clothing, food, and lifestyles of ethnic groups that live around Chiang Rai province. Governor of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Mr. Sujin Chaichumsuk presided over todays press conference on the organizing of Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair 2017. He said that the 26th Ayutthaya World Heritage Fair will be held from 15 to 24 December 2017, in the Ayutthaya Historical Park compound. The aim is to celebrate the historical significance of Thailand's ancient capital with celebrations and displays of traditional culture and lifestyles. The 10-day fair will feature cultural performances and entertainment. Specifically, the Ayutthaya's Got Talent contest and Miss Ayutthaya Beauty Contest will be held for the first time. Saraburi City Hall has handed over a refurbished home from the Pracharat Buri Home Project to a resident in Chaloem Phra Kiat District. She is one of the recipients of the project to repair and build homes for those in need. The project is in line with the Governments social policy that focuses on the Pracharat platform. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia has reopened and started operating normally, two days after a volcanic eruption spread ash across Bali. However, Thai passengers are advised to go to their respective airlines for updated information and to confirm their flights. His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun recently granted an audience to 18 new ministers of the Prayut Chan-o-cha administration on the occasion of their appointment to their new posts, at the Dusit Throne Hall. HM the King advised the Cabinet to use their intellect, mental prowess, and determination to overcome obstacles in their work. HM the King stated further that the Cabinet had the duty to drive the country forward and protect the land, and suggested that they carry on the legacy of HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha released a statement of condolence and lamentation over the passing of the noted political figure and diplomat, the former ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Surin Pitsuwan. He wrote that Dr. Surin had been a capable and principled member of the political community and had long served his nation, to the acknowledgement of both his countrymen and the international community. The Department of Skill Development will provide free vehicle checkup services to reduce road fatalities across Thailand, particularly during the New Year holidays. During the lead-up to the New Year festivities, many people are expected to begin taking trips from 1 December; therefore, the department will hold free vehicle checkups and maintenance from 1 to 28 December 2017, at the skill development offices and institutes nationwide. The Mastercard's Global Destinations Cities Index ranked Bangkok the worlds most-visited city with 19.41-million visitors last year, followed by London. The ranking comprises the worlds 132 top destination cities. In 2016, Bangkok welcomed 19.4 million international overnight visitors and ranked fifth in international overnight visitors' spending, totaling 14.08 billion US dollars. Leisure was the main purpose for visitors traveling to Bangkok at 88.6 percent, significantly higher than business travelers at 11.4 percent. (30/11/2017)
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha thanked the southern people for organizing a cabinet retreat in Songkhla and Pattani provinces. The premier stated the importance of 14 southern provinces and the special zone in the three southernmost provinces plus four districts of Songkhla. The Ministry of Culture has launched a book containing the history and details of Buddhist masterpieces from different eras and periods. The ministry aims to preserve Buddhist culture and provide an educational resource that will help people to learn about Buddhism, art, and culture. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will propose a plan to declare the Siamese fighting fish to be the national fish of Thailand. The plan would raise awareness of the species while promoting the decorative fish industry. Thai people have been familiar with Siamese fighting fish, or Betta, for more than 600 years. Thailand plans to propose Maha That temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat province and the Old Town of Chiang Mai province as cultural world heritage locations next year. The proposals will be submitted to the World Heritage Committee in 2018. The subcommittee on cultural world heritage has urged the formation of a working committee to prepare for the nomination of Sri Thep ancient city in Phetchabun in the initial list of world heritage sites to speed up the process. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and his delegation arrived in Pattani on Monday morning amid extra-tight security ahead of a mobile cabinet meeting, at the Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, in Songkhla on Tuesday. He chaired the opening of a central livestock market in Nong Chik district before chairing a security meeting at the 15th Infantry Division headquarters.
