The Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) has organized the "Future Economy and Internet Governance: Big Change to Big Chance" event at the Royal Paragon Hall, from 23 25 July 2018. The event will recognize the importance of using digital technology to steer the country in all dimensions. It features booths from Thailand's leading digital businesses and forums around 30 digital topics. (25/07/2018)
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) and the Thailand Research Fund (TRF) conduct further researches to manage tourism in Similan Islands National Park. Recently, the two agencies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to solve research issues, use research findings, and exchange information to develop tourism in Similan Islands National Park. Tourism is a key driver of poverty reduction and helps promote the local economy, generating income and creating opportunities for community. (25/07/2018)
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new project to tackle the problem of the rising level of garbage at various tourist destinations. With cooperation from various public agencies, the private sectors, and tourism-related associations, the TAT hopes to encourage tourists to avoid producing waste and dumping it at any tourist destination. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has invited members of the public to take part in the celebration of His Majesty the Kings birthday anniversary on 28 July. Government offices nationwide and Thai temples around the globe will be hosting alms-offering ceremonies for Buddhist monks and novices to mark the royal birthday on the morning of 28 July. The religious ceremonies will take place at the Sanam Luang ceremonial grounds and in other provinces at provincial city halls. (24/07/2018)
The Government plans to hold a "Thank you" event for all persons involved in the Tham Luang Cave rescue operation on 1 August 2018 in front of Dusit Palace under the title United as One from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the youth footballers will be ordained in a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign and Lt. Commander Saman Kunan on 25 July at Wat Phra Tat Doi Tung. They will be monks for nine days. (23/07/2018)
The Government Spokesman Bureau disclosed that Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and other members of the cabinet are scheduled to Ubon Ratchathani province on 23 24 July 2018 for an inspection and a cabinet retreat. This years 5th cabinet retreat will be held on 24 July 2018 at Ubon Ratchathani University. (23/07/2018)

The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) revealed that the Provincial Health Office of Roi Et province has received the 2018 United Nations Public Service Award for its comprehensive cervical cancer prevention and control program. This service is now offered in 32 provinces across the country, and the MOPH has recently introduced a HPV vaccination campaign to further efforts in cervical cancer prevention. (23/07/2018)

The Ministry of Industry has launched an initiative to innovate local industry called Creative Industry Village, or CIV. It aims to develop and promote tourism and tourist destinations with strong cultural advantages. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports disclosed that the ministry has organized a storytelling contest on new perspectives of Thailand to encourage tourism promotion through digital content. The event is being held from 2 July to 30 September 2018; it consists of a storytelling contest for students and the general public, in which they try to depict a tourist destination, and there is a contest that lets businesses and landowners try to establish landmarks, as well as a network-building contest for civil servants and public officials. The Department of Foreign Trade arranged a meeting for Thai entrepreneurs wanting to meet with about 120 potential business partners in Cambodia, in an effort to create more business opportunities between the two countries. Also, this event would strengthen business ties between Thailand and Cambodia. More than 100 Thai entrepreneurs participated, and they were divided into five business groups, including plastics and packaging, industrial products, consumer goods, construction materials, and services. The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) has continued to promote Thai entrepreneurs in line with its project to develop new market channels for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center will host the PhotoBangkok 2018 festival. The event will feature "A Life in Shadows," a documentary photography exhibition by Constantine Korsovitis, an Australian photographer. More than 30 images of the shadow theatre traditions in Southeast Asia will be presented in the exhibition. The event will be open from 3 to 26 August 2018, 10.00-19.00 hr every Tuesday to Sunday. The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank (SME Bank) has launched a new application dubbed "SME D Bank" to help small businesses better access capital. It has worked with private sector partners to create SME D Bank, which allows round-the clock online low-interest loan applications and access to over 50 other applications to help reduce costs associated with accounting, stock management, and human resource management. The application is now available through both Google's Play Store and the Apple App Store. Over 10,000 people are expected to download it this year. (17/07/2018)
The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand has expressed his gratitude to the Thai government, rescue workers, and support teams for their collaborative efforts to search for missing passengers, mostly Chinese tourists, from two sunken tour boats off Phuket province. China was thankful to all those who played a role in rescuing the survivors and recovering the tourists' bodies. In addition, he said that both countries should learn from it, a lesson that would strengthen cooperation in tourism and increase visitors' confidence in safety. (17/07/2018)
The Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has expressed his satisfaction with the Global Innovation Index 2018, released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which says that the position of Thailand has improved because the country has greater potential to produce creative products. In addition, he stressed the necessity for Thai people to learn about innovation development using science, technology, and creativity, in accordance with market demands, in order to deliver products and services that meet the needs of customers. The Government will host World Soil Day activities on 5 December 2018, which is the birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The event will place emphasis on royally inspired projects and the adoption of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy of the late King. It will be supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in cooperation with Rajabhat universities nationwide. (17/07/2018)
The Northern Meteorological Center has disclosed that, during the period of 16-20 July 2018, the northern region will encounter more rains, with some heavy rains and possible flash floods in some areas. People in risk areas, especially those living in the lowlands, have been warned to brace for dangers from heavy rains and accumulated rain, and are also advised to continually follow weather forecasts and official information. The Ministry of Defense disclosed that the Government plans to connect more than 367,000 surveillance cameras in a nationwide network within two years in order to improve security. It is expected that greater security for people would be provided at locations such as normal walking areas, shopping malls, and tourist attractions. (16/07/2018)
