Thai students have been awarded three gold and two silver medals at Chinas Robot Challenge 2018 in Beijing. The team, dispatched by the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), has won medals in 10 categories and showcased Thailands skills in science and technology. There was a total of 2,288 students from 223 institutions representing 30 countries who had competed in the games. (16/08/2018)
The Government will organize a prayer service in tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign on the occasion of her birthday anniversary. The prayer service will take place on Friday, 17 August at Dusit Palace. Chaiyaphum province has launched the Ozone Durian Fair to attract more tourists and to provide new marketing channels for local farmers. The ozone durian is famous for being planted 800 meters above sea level and for its uniquely sweet and crunchy taste. This type of durian is available from July to October. (14/08/2018)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has awarded over 300 markets throughout the city with Premium Market and Hygienic Market certificates. The certificates were handed out as part of the 2018 Bangkok City of Safety program. The four markets that were acknowledged as Premium Markets include Iam Sombut market in Suan Luang district, Sam Yan market in Pathumwan district, Bang Kun Sri market in Bangkok Noi district, and Minburi Mall in Minburi district. Thailand will host the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition from 26 August to 4 September 2018 at Impact Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi province. The event will benefit human resource development and tourism, and Thailand will also have the opportunity to show its potential in the world arena. It is expected to attract 10,000 people daily. Col. Athisit Chainuvat, Assistant Spokesman of the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that the Cabinet has approved the proposed draft of policies and initiatives for the 9th Meeting of the Myanmar-Thailand Joint Commission to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Myanmar. The bilateral meeting, which will be held in Nay Pyi Taw on 14 August 2018, will focus on political stability through strengthened border demarcation and control, as well as discussions on economic development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Thai Ambassador to Kuwait led the members of Thai Club in Kuwait in a visit to H.E. Sisonzay Ngaovongsi, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Kuwait, to make a donation for flood victims in Attapeu, Lao PDR. A total of 850 Kuwaiti dinar, or 93,000 baht, was raised at the initiative of the Thai Club in Kuwait and presented to H.E. Ngaovongsi at the Lao Embassys premises. Both ambassadors praised the Thai community in Kuwait for their kind and thoughtful gesture, which would help to strengthen the already close and cordial relationship between the Thai and Lao people. Chiang Rai province aims to open the largest market for chemical-free fruit and vegetables in the upper part of northern Thailand next year. The market is expected to help local farmers in the province to become more competitive and maintain the prices of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables. The province aims to be a regional center of organic produce after establishing the market. It will be located at Mae Korn intersection. (09/08/2018)
The Ministry of Public Health has urged people to beware of dengue fever during the rainy season, as the country's situation in 2018 is similar to that of 2015. It has been reported that there are over 37,000 dengue cases from January to July. Most patients were aged between five to fourteen and were reported mostly in the central region. Forty-five people have died from the virus, mostly patients over 35 years of age. The relevant parties have been urged to keep up eradication efforts throughout the rainy season, particularly at schools, hotels, factories, and hospitals. (08/08/2018)

The Trade Policy and Strategy Office has stated that exports of agricultural and agro-industrial products in Thailand rose four percent in the first half of this year. The expansion was driven by strong exports of products with high potential, such as rice; fresh, processed, and frozen poultry meat; canned, processed, and frozen fruits; and canned, processed, and frozen seafood. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in some areas in the northern, northeastern, central, eastern, and southern regions from 6 to 9 August 2018. Waves in the Andaman Sea are expected to be 2-3 meters in height, and around two meters in the upper part of the Gulf of Thailand. Small boats should not be taken into open waters. (07/08/2018)
The Minister of Labor has handed out necessities to flood victims in Nakhon Phanom province and established a rehabilitation plan for the province. Additionally, the Ministry of Public Health also ordered hospitals in flood-risk zones to move medicine and medical equipment to safe places in anticipation of an inundation. (07/08/2018)
Krabi province will host the Thailand Biennale 2018. The four-month-long event will feature contemporary artworks, which will be harmonized with the city's beaches, from more than 50 international and Thai artists. The Office of Contemporary Art and Culture will implement the national policy of Thailand 4.0 by adding value to the famous tourist destination with the contemporary art biennale. The event will be held from 2 November 2018 to February 2019 under the theme "Edge of the Wonderland." (07/08/2018)

Satun province has opened a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified compressed rubber processing plant aimed at international exports, helping local farmers to earn more income. The factory has now been upgraded to be able to compress rubber sheets into cubes for export. The renovation of the factory is receiving financial support from Satun province. (06/08/2018)
The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has held a strategic meeting to boost human trafficking prevention efforts. The objective of the meeting is also to improve Thailands ranking in the human trafficking prevention report. The Culture Ministry has revealed that an American collector, Katherine Ayers-Mannix, has returned her private collection of twelves prehistoric Baan Chiang pottery pieces to the Thai government. The returned artifact have been kept at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok. They will be displayed at the National Museum and will be later exhibited at the Baan Chiang Museum in Udon Thani province. (06/08/2018)
The Ministry of Public Health revealed that the ministry has developed over 50,000 caregivers across the country in order to support the caregiving system for the elderly by 2018.
