Songkhla Municipality will be holding the 177th Anniversary of the City Pillar Shrine Celebration 2019, from 26th June to 2ndJuly. The event honors the culture of the Chinese Thai, and it provides the general public and tourists an auspicious chance to pay homage to the City Pillar Shrine. In addition, the event includes several activities, such as local food shops, walking street at night, a procession of Chinese gods, and Thai-Chinese cultural performances. (20/06/2019)
Several local restaurants in Khon Kaen have received the Thai SELECT UNIQUE certification, guaranteeing authentic Thai deliciousness. One of them is Zab Nua Krua Isan. The owner, Wanpen Kasemsan Na Ayutthaya, said they have been serving dishes made from original and authentic recipes for some 10 years, welcoming Thai and foreign customers. The restaurants most popular dishes include "khao suan kwang" grilled chicken, fried "pla som" fermented fish, fried sausages, and vegetable soup with ant eggs. (20/06/2019)

As the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) moves forward into its 52nd year, Thailand, as ASEAN Chair in 2019, has made clear its readiness to host the blocs 34th summit in Bangkok. The 34th ASEAN Summit is scheduled to take place between June 20th and 23rd under the theme Advancing Partnership for Sustainability. All security, public relations units and related officials have recently expressed their readiness in hosting the meetings and to welcome their participants. (20/06/2019)
Chaiyaphums Siam Tulip Festival is a tourism highlight in the rainy season. Pa Hin Ngam National Park and Sai Thong National Park in Nong Bua Rawe district are must-visit places for those wishing to enjoy the beauty of Chaiyaphums native flowers. General Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister, revealed that the upcoming ASEAN Summit, which will be hosted in Thailand, is extremely important because of several issues contained in the summit such as society, stability, culture, and, especially, economy. In addition, he stated that, as Thailand is the core founder of the Ayeyawady Chao Phraya Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) for CLMVT state members, Thailand has increased its subsidy for the ACMECS Fund in order to further expand, link, and attract international banks to invest more in this fund. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission on the two-year initiative to move all overhead telecom and broadcast cables in the capital underground covering the distance of more than 2,000 kilometers. The relocation of the first batch of overhead communication lines is expected to be complete within this year. The entire project is expected to be complete in two years. (19/06/2019)
Thailand and Lao PDR have made an agreement to construct the 5th Thai Lao Friendship Bridge (BuengKanBolikhamsai), operated by the Department of Highways with a budget of 2,630 million baht (on the part of Thailand). The Minister of Transport stated that in three years, Thailand will have roads linked to Bolikhamsai province in Laos, which will be conducive to the borders economic development. In particular, this link will become a gateway to help promote a higher value of mutual trade and investment in the two countries border areas. (18/06/2019)
Mr. Charoon Chaisorn, Deputy Director-General of the Government Public Relations Department, and Mr. Ngo Minh Hien, Vice President of Voice of Vietnam, have chaired the 9th Joint Technical Committee Meeting between Thailand and Vietnam in Hanoi, Vietnam. The meeting discussed the exchange of media and correspondents under the MoU agreed in 1999. Both sides reached an agreement to continue media exchange on television, radio, and internet platforms. Austria and Thailand this year are celebrating 150 Years of Thai-Austrian Friendship, commemorating the auspicious occasion with a joint concert. The twin concerts will be held on June 23rd in Vienna and July 14th in Bangkok, featuring song performances by world-renown Austrian composers and conductors, as well as a youth orchestra from Thailand. The Governor of Songkhla province revealed that Thailand and Malaysia have made an agreement to extend the office hours of their border customs houses at SadaoBukit Kayu Hitam. Instead of 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., they will be open 24 hours a day during the next three months (17 June 16 September 2019). This office hour extension is an achievement by the two countries to promote logistics and border trade and to strengthen their relationship, since the visit by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the Malaysian Prime Minister, to Thailand on 24 - 25 October 2018. Labor officials from Thailand and Laos have discussed measures to manage Lao workers in Thailand's fisheries sector as their work permits will expire on November 1 this year. High-ranking officials from Thailand's Department of Employment and Laos' Department of Skills Development and Employment held an academic meeting at the Royal Mekong Nongkhai Hotel in Nong Khai province on June 5 and 6, 2019. The meeting discussed employment issues anti-human trafficking measures under the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between both countries. The Lao officials at the meeting offered their suggestions and praised the Thai officials for their warm reception. The meeting discussed ways to manage 1,314 Lao workers in Thailand's fisheries sector as their work permits will expire on November 1, 2019. In addition, a total of 58,432 Lao workers' work permits will expire on March 31 next year. According to the Department of Employment, 29,513 Lao workers have passports, while others have documents in lieu of passports. The Thai officials insisted that Lao workers with legal work permits are eligible for proper social security and social welfare benefits like other migrant workers with legal work permits in Thailand. The workers can submit complaints through many channels, such as the Ministry of Labor's 1506 hotline service and the ministry's labor protection and welfare offices nationwide. During the meeting, the Thai and Lao officials signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on labor cooperation and employment agreements that will benefit both countries. The result of this discussion will later be submitted to the cabinet for consideration. This meeting had further strengthened the bilateral relations and labor cooperation between the two countries. Meanwhile, the Lao delegates said they would be more than welcome to host the next Thai-Lao academic meeting in their country. (17/06/2019)
The Royal Thai Police (RTP) confirmed its readiness to ensure public safety as Thailand hosts the 34th ASEAN Summit from June 20th to June 23rd. The RTP prepared and rehearsed a comprehensive security plan which covers the accommodation area of the participants and the meeting venue. The ASEAN Summit Security Operation Center will be opened to follow up on information and situations before, during and after the meeting. RTP has also urged on the public to watch out for suspicious things and not to stage movements and warned that violators will be strictly prosecuted according to the law. (17/06/2019)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will be sending out officials and volunteers to remove large pieces of garbage from canals every Sunday, in the hope of clearing the waterways to achieve a better flow of water. After collection, the items will be discarded, destroyed, recycled or donated. Bangkok City Hall has also been encouraging residents of the capital city to separate their wastes and to dispose of large items at designated locations. (17/06/2019)
The Director of the Trang Provincial Agricultural Extension Office revealed that the Farmers Market project has been very successful. This market, which currently opens on Tuesdays and Fridays, provides agriculturists a place to sell their hygienic and qualified agricultural products directly to the general public, with support from marketing consultants. Moreover, shoppers can trust that, at this market, they will be buying fruit and vegetables without any chemical contamination. (14/06/2019)

They may be interested in the cycling path around the Siri Charoenwat Forest Plantation Project, passing through beautiful natural scenery suitable for cyclists practicing uphill cycling. The province is organizing many sporting events connected with tourism attractions in the province, such as Wat Yansangwararam Temple, Khao Cheechan Buddha Mountain, local communities and local farms. The Friends in Need (of PA) Volunteers Foundation has announced it will organize an annual fair publicizing its achievements from July 5th to 14th at the Nimibutr Sports Building in the National Stadium in Pathum Wan District of Bangkok. Under the theme "Sharing, Sufficiency, Sustainability," the Friends in Need (of PA) Volunteers Foundation 2019 Fair will feature exhibitions on various activities of the foundation, as well as four-dimensional films about the foundations rescue operations being carried out in disaster-hit areas. The Director of the Department of Drainage and Sewerage revealed that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has readied drainage systems, water pumping stations, canal dredging machinery and other draining tools for this rainy season. In addition, the Flood Prevention System Control Center of BMA is closely monitoring the water situation daily in all areas to solve any problem immediately, especially in 14 areas at risk and 56 areas on alert. The Government has reassured the public that the free lunch project for primary school students is not being canceled. Instead of canceling, they plan to improve the quality of lunches and milk to benefit students the most. The Ministry of Education also ordered the Secondary Educational Service Area Offices and schools nationwide to build a network to provide free breakfasts to economically disadvantaged students, and any students who have not had breakfast. The Transport Company has established a bus operation training center, in its bid to improve the skills of its drivers and enhance passenger safety. The training center is equipped with computer simulators being capable of emulating real-life scenarios that a bus driver may encounter. The simulator is expected to improve the reflexes of bus drivers and reduce the number of road accidents from various causes, such as slippery roads, unexpected vehicle behaviors, to name a few. Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is promoting Time 2019 as a platform for staging meetings, incentive travel, conventions and exhibitions (MICE), to reach groups of ASEAN + 6 travelers. It is expected to generate revenue of 152 million baht. TCEB and six major organizations from the transportation business sector, such as Thai Airways and BMW Thailand are presenting Time 2019 from 10-15 June at the Conrad Bangkok, on the concept of togetherness.
