The Tourism Authority of Thailand, in cooperation with Surat Thani province, will be holding the 4th Samui Festival, from 14 to 19 September, at Na Thorn pier, Phru Chaweng, and Chaweng beach. The aim of the event is to promote local tourism, including culture, arts, values, and peoples lifestyles in the province. The event includes numerous activities, such as Buddhist religious ceremonies, a floral carnival parade, concerts, Muay Thai, a marathon, biking events, and more. (15/08/2019)
Mahidol University signed an MOU with Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CPF) to explore health food innovations that are able to meet the needs of consumers at all ages, for the sustainable health of all Thais. This cooperation will also add value to products and boost economic growth in support of the Governments policy on public-private cooperation. The pharmaceutical knowledge will be applied in the development of food technology, the improvement of research capability, and university-level education in the long term. (15/08/2019)

The Treasury Department has recently established a state property database, in order to preserve and develop appropriately many old but classic buildings located in state property areas, which are stunningly unique in terms of history, artistic value, and architecture. There are approximately 200 listed buildings nationwide, and 60 of them could be further developed. For this reason, private companies, investors, and those who are interested in investment and preservative development, could invest in and renovate the buildings for hotels, cafes, restaurants, and more. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society disclosed that the Thailand Internet of Things (IoT) Industry Whitepaper was released during the Thailand IoT Industry Summit. The whitepaper will be the framework of Thailands IoT technologies, ecosystem and application for the development of IoT startups and will stimulate the digital economy. The ministry also expects that the whitepaper will be an important basis for promoting the Thailand 4.0 initiative, as well as accelerating the digital transformation of Thailand. (14/08/2019)
The Ministry of Industry has provided grease traps to the Khlong Prem Prachakorn canal community. This is one of 21 volunteer projects of the ministry to help keep communities clean, and to promote the awareness of environmental preservation to the residents. According to the ministrys data, 15 provinces have become Eco towns, and there are currently approximately 37,000 green factories, including more than 100 big factories that have recently adopted the Circular Economy System in their production processes. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is working with various ministries to increase the number of domestic and international flights to Krabi Airport, connect inland tourism routes throughout the provinces of the southern region especially the Andaman coastal provinces, and promote maritime tourism focusing on groups of tourists with high spending capacity. The Ministry of Industry plans to organize an investment roadshow in China this year in order to attract new investments in the Eastern Economic Corridor scheme. The roadshow aims to attract foreign direct investment from China, as well as convincing investors that Thailand remains a good opportunity in spite of the US-China trade war. (11/08/2019)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives plans to facilitate Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification for exporters. The plan aims to increase the value of Thai fruit export to foreign countries by meeting the standards set by those countries. (09/08/2019)

On 7 August 2019, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha visited the Local Durian Preservation Project, Yala province, in order to promote Yala as a Durian City. On this occasion, he stated that sadet nam yala, a local type of durian in Yala, should be preserved and promoted more to the public by developing its quality in every process, from production to sales. In addition, the development includes improved technology and efficient marketing management, which could support growers and help them connect to both domestic and international durian markets. The Commerce Ministry has launched a Facebook page "My name is Vegetable, last name Fruit", is holding online activities and games as well as being a social media information source for Thai fruit. The page now features an online competition with 30 fruit retailers to find fruit recipes, and is engaging with famous food bloggers to help invent new dishes containing fruit as the main ingredient to better answer consumers needs, stressing the importance and benefits of Thai fruit and promote the consumption of Thai instead of imported fruit, which will help generate more income for local farmers. On 6 August 2019, Thailand held the 2nd Cambodia-Vietnam-Thailand Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference(CVTEC), in order to accomplish the opening of new coastal logistics routes joining the three countries, according to the MOU signed by Thai-Cambodian private companies in the first CVTEC last year. The highlights of this CVTEC also include MOUs on trade, logistics, tourism, and MICE in strategic areas of the three countries. In addition, the Vice Chairman of the Thai-Cambodian Business Council revealed that, in the future, the expected routes could possibly link to the 21st-century Silk Road, especially the marine routes, which start from port cities in China. The Universal Foundation for Persons with Disabilities will organize a charity concert "We Are Not Different, Open the World of the Disabled, Great Thai-Korean Friendship." The concert is aimed at encouraging people with disabilities to develop their potential, create a correct and creative attitude towards people with disabilities and will raise funds to support the operations of both foundations. It also strengthens the relationship between Thailand and the Republic of Korea in terms of development of people with disabilities. (07/08/2019)

The Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will organize the Bridging Trade and Investment Relations between Thailand and East Malaysia trade forum on 21-23 August 2019 in Kuching, Malaysia. The event will present the future outlook of the Thai economy under the new government and outline potential trade opportunities between Thailand and East Malaysia, as well as opening up new business opportunities and partnerships between the two countries. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) revealed that on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the Kings Coronation this year, the MNRE has invited Thai citizens, as well as every agency and company in the state and private sectors, to plant at least one tree in their area. Those who are interested in participating in the project may register on the website http://plant.forest.go.th. The expected goal of this project is to have at least 10 million trees planted in one year. (06/08/2019)
The Government Lottery Office has clarified that the new zodiac lottery is aimed at solving the problems of illegal gambling and overpriced lottery tickets without affecting other factors. The new lottery scheme is only a concept for improvement in the future and has not been included in the Government's policy yet. (06/08/2019)
The Department of Disease Control has advised parents to bring their children to be vaccinated after the mumps disease has broken out in barracks and schools. Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Phuket, and Mae Hong Son have been reported to have the most mumps patients. Children should take the MMR vaccine twice, at age 9-12 months and around 2 years 6 months. Every child is advised to complete all vaccines to be fully protected. (06/08/2019)
Lamphun province in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce is now holding The 9th Longan Festival, OTOP and Chamber of Commerce Fair 2019, from 3 to 12 August, in order to promote longan products from Lamphun province to the public. The highlight includes the first longan auctions in Thailand, which could raise 327,500 baht in total to provide necessary medical equipments for Ban Thi Hospital, as well as a variety of shops showcasing and selling their several products in the event. The Royal Thai Navy is staging rehearsals for the royal barge ceremony, which will be held in honor of the 2019 Coronation of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. On 2 August 2019, naval officers took part in a rehearsal to ensure synchronization during HM the Kings barge procession. In all, there will be eight minor rehearsals and two dress rehearsals. Members of the public are invited to witness the beauty of Thai traditions and culture through the royal barge procession -- part of the nations grand heritage and the only ceremony of its kind in the world -- on 24 October 2019. Thailand will organize the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2019 (ABIS 2019), a platform for ASEAN and non-ASEAN leaders to share their views on the economy amid global economic volatility, and promote the importance of workers' development. The event will take place at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi Province on November 2nd and 3rd. The summit will focus on technological infrastructure development, digital connectivity to support investment and digitalization in the workforce. According to the organizers, accessibility to capital for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will also be discussed. (05/08/2019)
