The Royal Thai Navy, in cooperation with Icon Siam, as well as members of the state and private sectors, will be holding the exhibition Arts on Water, from 25 to 31 October 2019, on the occasion of Royal Barge Procession for the Coronation of King Rama X, at Icon Siam, Charoen Nakhon Road, free of charge. The opening ceremony will be held on 25 September, from 13.30 to 15.00 hr., with the highlight of royal barge chanting and music demonstrated by the two composers and the singers of the ceremony. The event includes photos, showcasing the lacquered and gilded designs and patterns on each royal barge, three-dimensional touchable performances for persons who are visually challenged, as well as images of the formation of the Royal Barge Procession. Held on 24 October, the ceremony will be the first Royal Barge Procession in the reign of King Rama X. The Royal Thai Navy has taken on the responsibility for every stage of operations, preparations and rehearsals. This procession is composed of 52 barges (including the four main royal barges: Suphannahong, Anantanakkharat, Anekkachatphuchong, and Narai Song Suban Ratchakan Thi Kao), manned by 2,311oarsmen. The procession proceeds down the Chao Phraya River, from the Wasukri Royal Pier, passes the temple of the Emerald Buddha, and finally arrives at the Grand Palace. (16/09/2019)
The Times Higher Educations latest edition has ranked Mae Fah Luang University and Mahidol University as the best tertiary education institution in Thailand in a global survey. The latest survey placed Mae Fah Luang and Mahidol universities in the 601-800 band of world university rankings for 2020 from 1,400 universities across 92 countries. (13/09/2019)

Songkhla province is now holding a cultural event, Hat Yai Moon Festival 2019, from 12 to 14 September, on Thammanun Withi and Niphat Uthit roads. The aims of the event are to preserve Chinese Thai culture during the Moon Festival, to promote tourism, and to stimulate the economy in local areas. The event also includes many activities, such as tasting moon cakes free of charge, as well as viewing the colorful lantern decorations, the Chang-o (the Chinese goddess of the moon) pageant, concerts, and a dragon and lion dance parade, not to mention around a hundred food trucks selling food and drink and all the shops selling their products, and plenty more. On 10 September, the executives of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) visited Government House to meet the Prime Minister, General Prayut Chan-o-cha. The executives of OCPB presented the project Sor Khor Bor Ngot Plastic Hiu Pinto Show Thungpha, a plan for reducing plastic bag use, promoting the use of tiffin boxes (multi-storey food carriers) and cloth bags instead. The Prime Minister encouraged Thai citizens to reduce garbage and the use of plastic bags, and to save the world together from waste pollution and global warming. (11/09/2019)
The Office of Commerce of Nonthaburi province, in cooperation with 17 central region provinces, is now holding Tong Shop Chim @Tong Chom Fair 2019, a food, product, and service fair that is part of the Pracharat Market Scheme, from 10 to 13 September, at the Thailand Government Complex, Chaengwatthana Road. The aims of the event are to provide sales channels for entrepreneurs and to give the public more opportunities to buy high-quality products and services directly. The event includes approximately 170 shops showcasing and selling their high-quality local products and services, such as fruits, vegetables, garments, accessories, decorations, cosmetics, herbs, and more. The estimated value of expenses within the event could be up to 15 million baht. In addition, the event will be held again from 21 to 24 September, at the City Hall, Chonburi province. (10/09/2019)
The Customs Department plans to install more X-ray machines on conveyor belts to increase the efficiency of the inspection at Suvarnabhumi Airport by the end of 2019. So far, 23 belts in the arrivals area are being installed. The department also aims to adopt the National Single Window system, in accordance with the Government's policy, to facilitate customs operations. The system is also being installed in Myanmar and the Philippines. (10/09/2019)
The Rice Department has been disseminating research and rice innovations to the public. Those who are interested will have more alternatives for improving their livelihood and will be able to apply the knowledge to further develop their rice production commercially. Currently, the Rice Department has a total of 27 rice research centers nationwide, where rice is developed by using the latest technology. The knowledge that is gained is passed on to farmers in order to develop their rice production further. In addition, the main missions of the centers are to conduct rice research, develop rice species, create innovations, and support food and economic security for the nation. (09/09/2019)
People are invited to visit the Chinese terracotta exhibition, "Qin Shi Huang: The First Emperor of China and the Terracotta Warriors," at the Sivamok Phiman Throne Hall in the Bangkok National Museum. The exhibition will also feature a collection of 133 relics that are over 2,200 years old. It will be open from 15 September to 15 December 2019, 09.00-16.00 hr. The museum is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and public holidays. (09/09/2019)
The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment continues to increase green areas outside the conservation area "Precious Wood Community - Family Forest under the BEDO Concept". The project continues to be expanded throughout the country, it will improve the quality of life of villagers and their self-reliance and also lead to forest restoration and conservation to increase the area of forest nationwide to 55 percent as sought in the governments policy. Hat Yai City Municipality is now holding an event for health, The 2nd Hat Yai Healthy Life 2019, from 5 to 11 September, at Hat Yai City Municipality Public Park (from 10.00 to 22.00 hr). The event includes many activities, such as innovations in health services, contests, concerts, competitions, shops selling their products for health, local healthy food shops, remedial demonstrations of Thai traditional medicine, medical services, and much more. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit revealed that ASEAN economic ministers approved four economic plans during the 51st ASEAN Economic Ministers meeting (AEM) in Bangkok: ASEAN Digital Integration Framework Action Plan 2019-2025, ASEAN Declaration on Industrial Transformation to Industry 4.0 (4IR), Guideline on Skilled Labor/Professional Service Development in Response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and Policy Guideline on Digitalization of ASEAN Micro Enterprises. He added that the meeting had made good progress and emphasized that economic cooperation between ASEAN members will strengthen the region and create benefits for all member countries, including an increase in export volumes and the reduction of trade barriers outside ASEAN. He is also confident that talks on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) can be wrapped up this year and that an agreement will be signed next year. (07/09/2019)

The event will feature three prominent zones Digital Economy, Digital Society, and Creativity aiming to raise awareness of digital transformation, as well as being a platform that will enable Thais to adapt to the new technology, giving them the option of using it in an appropriate, effective, and sustainable manner. The World Health Organization urged countries in its South-East Asia Region to accelerate efforts to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030. Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director WHO South-East Asia said at the Seventy Second Session of WHO Regional Committee in Delhi, India that there is need to strengthen national cervical cancer control plans, including appropriate strategies and guidelines for immunization, screening, treatment and care, including palliative care. Cervical cancer is a significant public health problem in the Region. In 2018, an estimated 158 000 new cases and 95 766 deaths were reported due to cervical cancer, which is the third most common type of cancer. All countries in the Region are taking measures for screening and treatment of pre-cancers. Four countries in the Region - Bhutan, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thailand - have introduced HPV vaccine nationally. (06/09/2019)

Thailand, Laos, and Malaysia agreed to extend the Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia (LTM) Power Integration Project for two more years, at the 37th ASEAN Ministers of Energy Meeting (AMEM). It is expected that power generation will be increased from 100 megawatts of electricity to 300 megawatts, and increased energy supplies will be available in January 2020. The official signing of the new agreement will take place later this year. (06/09/2019)
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha has affirmed that Thailand is ready to support the adoption of digital technology in micro-SMEs, in accordance with the national agenda since 2014, because this type of business accounts for over 95% of all businesses in each ASEAN member state. The micro-SMEs contribute 43% of Thailand's gross domestic product (GDP) and should be a major economic driver. (06/09/2019)
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (Public Organization) (TCEB), disclosed that TCEB is holding the Thailand MICE Forum 2019, or TMF 2019, for the third consecutive year. Under this years theme, Thailands Opportunity: Asias Top MICE Destination, the convention focuses on creating awareness and enthusiasm among Thai MICE entrepreneurs, so that they can collaborate and seek new opportunities together, which will drive Thailand toward becoming Asias top MICE destination. The Ministry of Commerce disclosed that the Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Bank) will offer financial tools to support Thai entrepreneurs penetration of the Indian market. The financial tools are composed of working capital, medium- and long-term financing, export credit insurance, and investment insurance. The group industries for Thai entrepreneurs include textiles, processed foods, automobiles, and information technology. (05/09/2019)

The Thailand Emergency Medical Technician team (Thailand EMT) has been certified by the World Health Organization (WHO), during the 72nd World Health Assembly, Regional Committee for South-East Asia, held in New Delhi, India. Consequently, Thailand is regarded as the first country in ASEAN and the 26th country globally to be awarded and certified in this standard by WHO. (05/09/2019)
Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailands Phuket office Kanokkittika Kritwutthikorn said that Phukets Old Town has been listed among Asias 13 most picturesque towns by CNN Travel. The listing mentions Phukets old quarter lined with Sino-Colonial style shop houses, which was built during the tin mining boom in the 18th and 19th centuries. (05/09/2019)
