The Ministry of Public Health has made an announcement regarding the new zoning of the country in three categories. The red group, or the highest risk group, includes Bangkok and four other provinces. However, this is still a proposal, which will be finalized by the CCSA in due course. (08/04/2021)
There are new cases that have been found in crowded places, especially in entertainment venues. Therefore, the authorities have stepped up the effort to keep a close watch and be vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Seeing that crowded places contain low air flow, low ceiling, and high interactions, the CCSA is considering temporarily closing some risk venues for two weeks. (08/04/2021)
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has introduced COVID-19 prevention measures and quarantine guidelines for persons who are entering Thailand. There are different quarantine periods and frequencies of RT-PCR testing during quarantine including At least 7 days, 10 days and 14 days quarantine requirement. (08/04/2021)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered 196 entertainment establishments in Klong Toey, Wattana, and Bang Khae districts to close after reports of high COVID-19 infections from those districts. The order is in effect from 6 to 19 April 2021. The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration also urges the public to follow the guidelines and prevention measures to reduce the risk of infection. They will continue to watch the situation closely. If the infection rate continues to rise, they will elevate stricter measures to control the spread of the virus. (07/04/2021)

The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has revealed the vaccination numbers in Thailand from 28 February to 30 March 2021. The number of the vaccinations on 30 March is 14,119 doses. The overall vaccination level in Thailand from 28 February to 30 March is 180,477 doses. The Ministry of Public Health is distributing 800,000 doses of Sinovac's COVID-19 vaccine nationwide. The first 22 provinces will start the vaccination on 1 April and the others will begin the mass vaccination in June. (01/04/2021)

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha signed the announcement on the eleventh consecutive extension of the state of emergency for two more months after it expires on 31 March, 2021. The two-month extension takes effect from 1 April 31 May, 2021. The announcement cited several risk factors, including the fact that Thailand continues to detect new COVID-19 infections in various areas, especially local markets and communities. (01/04/2021)
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has joined hands with the Faculty of Engineering at Kasetsart University. They have complied with the safety guard guidelines for land tourism and zipline adventure activities. These measures are expected to be implemented after Thailand reopens on 1 July 2021. Initially, they will be implemented in six provinces, namely Chiang Mai, Phuket, Kanchanaburi, Udon Thani, Chonburi, and Bangkok. (01/04/2021)
Thailand's centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has updated on Thailands quarantine measures. From 1 April 2021 onwards, quarantine period will be reduced from 14 days to no less than 10 days for travellers from countries with no cases of COVID-19 variant strains while travellers from countries with cases of COVID-19 variant strains are subjected to 14-day quarantine. The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has stated that after 1 April, the Government will apply the relaxed measures for travelers from abroad to stay in quarantine for 10 days. But those who are from countries that have been reported to have the new COVID-19 variant (including people that have the new variant and who are already in Thai quarantine centers) must be in quarantine for 14 days as normal. The Permanent Secretary for Public Health said that COVID-19 vaccinations are proceeding as targeted, urging public cooperation by explaining that, if 60 percent of the population is inoculated, the country can reopen to tourism and economic opportunities. The Foreign Office of the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) held a press briefing on the topic Thailands Cannabis Liberalization toward World Medical Hub. The event was an activity under the PRD international public relations project, aimed at creating better understanding about the Thai governments policy on the use of cannabis and hemp for medical purposes, with an emphasis on safety and more access for the public. The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has stated that the vaccination effort in Thailand is proceeding according to the plan. More vaccine doses are continuing to arrive in Thailand and will be distributed nationwide. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health is conducting a vaccine efficiency study among people who received the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines to learn more about their ability to build up immunity in the body. The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has revealed that the spread of the COVID-19 virus has been reported in Bangkok and 10 other provinces. The measures for controlling the spread of the virus have been applied in the wet markets and surrounding areas, which are the hot spots for the infection. Therefore, the CCSA approved relaxed measures in various provinces, including Samut Sakhon. The province will no longer be in the red zone, or the "maximum controlled areas with highly strict measures." It will be among the controlled areas, where normal economic and social activities can be carried out. (19/03/2021)

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana graciously granted an "express results" van to the Ministry of Public Health to help with actively finding infections in communities. The van can report a result in three hours. This van will support the ministry in finding infected persons in communities faster and reduce unnecessary travel and the spread of the virus. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, with sixteen members of the Cabinet, were vaccinated with AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine this morning at Government House. According to the process of the vaccination, they had to rest for 30 minutes after receiving the vaccine to observe any signs of side effects. They will receive the second dose on 25 May 2021. The Prime Minister stated that one aim of this vaccination was to reassure the public that AstraZeneca's vaccine is safe, according to the report from WHO and other organizations. The Government plans to provide and distribute the COVID-19 vaccine for the public as soon as possible. (16/03/2021)

Approximately 74% of patients from 758 clinics around Thailand who have been treated by prescriptions of medical marijuana products have revealed the desired effects following their appointments. The results affirmed the Governments stance in promoting the use of cannabis as an alternative medical treatment. The Ministry of Public Health has authorized 758 clinics nationwide to provide cannabis-based treatments. There are 419 that are traditional Thai medicine clinics, while the rest are general medical practices. The cannabis-based concoctions have been prescribed to treat patients with epilepsy and multiple sclerosis, as well as pain associated with cancer and other chronic illnesses. (16/03/2021)

Thailand hosted the Sixth Conference of ASEAN Plus Three (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) Ministers Responsible for Information (6th AMRI+3) via videoconference under the theme "ASEAN: A Digital Community with Accessibility for All. The Minister Attached to the Prime Ministers Office, Mr. Anucha Nakasai, chaired the meeting, and Permanent Secretary of the Prime Ministers Office Theerapat Prayurasiddhi joined the meeting. The 6th AMRI+3 reported progress made in cooperation between ASEAN and the Plus Three countries, in accordance with the Work Plan on Enhancing ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation through Information and Media 2018-2023. He also presented the Prime Ministers Digital Awards 2020 to recipients who have been selected for their outstanding technological and digital innovations during the year 2020. He congratulated all the award recipients, and commended members of the new generations who have adopted technology to create new businesses. Thailand hosted the Sixth Meeting of ASEAN Plus Three ( China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan) Senior Officials Responsible for Information or SOMRI+3. The meeting was held under the theme "ASEAN: A Digital Community with Accessibility for All. Representatives from the dialogues partners have expressed their firm intention in promoting information and media cooperation with ASEAN. Other issues included at the meeting were the results of the Special ASEAN Plus Three Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019 and the progress of the Work Plan on Enhancing ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation through Information and Media 2018-2023.
