On 3 December, the Minister Attached to the Prime Ministers Office, Mr. Tewan Liptapanlop, and other government officials embarked on a boat from Rachathiwat Temple pier, in order to conduct a thorough inspection of the readiness of the route where the Royal Barge Procession on 12 December will be taking place. For this special occasion, the minister has invited the general public to decorate their houses, buildings, and offices situated along the riverbank with royal flags and the flags of Thailand. He also invited Thai citizens to wear yellow shirts and attend the event, in order to pay homage and offer their best wishes to His Majesty King Rama X together. (04/12/2019)
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will be holding a Walking Street event in two locations in order to stimulate tourism in Bangkok: (1) Yaowarat Road (on 13 to 15 December), from 17.00 to 24.00 hr, and (2) Silom Road (on 15 December), from 12.00 to 22.00 hr. The event on Silom Road will provide five zones to visit, such as (1) Art Zone, showcasing a gallery and drawings of numerous artists, (2) Food Zone, providing food stalls by renowned restaurants from fifty districts of Bangkok, and (3) Elderly Zone, where activities will be provided for the elderly, and more. The Public Relations Department (PRD) is hosting the 16th PRD-VNA Joint Technical Committee Meeting on 1-4 December 2019. The cooperation and technical exchange that grow from the meeting will enhance mutual understanding, friendship, and knowledge between the people of the two countries. In the next chapter, PRD and VNA will have exchanges of information, news items, video clips, television programs, training courses, and effective exchange activities from both sides.This cooperation hopes to develop new techniques and innovative products and tohelp both sides learn more about society and culture. The Department of Trade Negotiations Director General, Auramon Supthaweethum, stated that the Ministry of Commerce will seek trade cooperation with New Zealand as a new export market. As Thailand and New Zealand are economic partners in free trade agreement (FTA), both countries plan to discuss ways to increase trade value and facilitate their international business in their next meeting. The Ministry of Transport has launched a safety campaign that offers 2,300 free vehicle checkup services nationwide until the end of December 2019. The police will also establish checkpoints on several roads to monitor traffic and facilitate travel for motorists. The campaign aims to decrease the number of road accidents during the New Year holiday period. (03/12/2019)
The Thai government will be holding activities on the occasion of Fathers Day 2019, at Sanam Luang, from 5 to 14 December, from 10.00 to 20.00 hr each day. The activities include the ceremony of paying homage to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the exhibition of Friends in Need (of Pa) Volunteers Foundation, the Thai Red Cross, the exhibition of the Spirit of Sharing and Model Communities in the Thai Way of Life, a service and career training center, and more. Their Majesties the King and Queen will visit Chinese-Thai residents at Yaowaraj on 6 December 2019. They will preside over the opening ceremony of an exhibition honoring the Chakri Dynasty at 17.00 hr. Then, their Majesties the King and Queen will visit Wat Traimit Witthayaram Worawihan, the Tien Fah Foundation, and Wat Mangkon Kamalawat. Several roads near Yaowaraj will be closed from 12.00 hr. The Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health, and the Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Center has invited their business and state network partners to attend the campaign activities nationwide on the World AIDS Day (1 December 2019). One of the highlight activities is to tag a red ribbon on one's shirt to express symbolically the support and the unity of every sector in the society to end AIDS together. In addition, the Thai government has set its determination to end AIDS in ten years (by 2030), which could be accomplished by strong cooperation from all business, state, and social sectors. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration plans to establish walking streets on Silom Road, Yaowaraj Road, and Khao San Road to stimulate the economy and tourism. The walking streets will include food and product shops and music and cultural performances. Silom walking street will start on 15 December 2019 and will be opened every third Sunday of the month, from 12.00 to 22.00 hr. Yaowaraj walking street will be held every weekend, Friday to Sunday, from 19.00 to 24.00 hr. It will start on 13 December to 15 December. Khao San walking street, which will have cultural performances, such as Khon and shadow plays, will be held every Monday, starting on 16 December. (29/11/2019)
On November 27, at the opening of the inaugural Mekong-ROK Commemorative Summit, in Busan, South Korea, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha delivered a keynote address and shared his vision on the laying out of the third action plan, which will be implemented in 2021, based on the 3Ps (People, Prosperity, Peace) principle. They include the following: 1) People for Inclusive Society: To increase people-to-people exchanges, and to promote mutual understanding and people-centered cooperation, among others; 2) Prosperity by Sharing Experience: To work together, and to promote Connecting the Connectivity; 3) Peace for Sustainable Development: The PM endorsed fostering cooperation to cope with non-traditional security challenges. Tourists can visit for more information, such as promotions, discounts and names of participating vendors. On 26 November 2019, the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, addressed the third ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit, in Busan, South Korea. He emphasized that the 3Ps principle (People, Prosperity, Peace) under South Koreas New Southern Policy was in line with the ASEAN Vision, and this would promote peace, stability, prosperity, and sustainability in the Asia-Pacific region. The PM raised three key approaches for reinforcement of the strategic partnership between ASEAN and South Korea with cooperation for the promotion of (1) sustainable stability and human security, (2) sustainable economy, and (3) socio-cultural sustainability. Presenting his views on ASEAN and South Korean connectivity and the beneficial effects on regional prosperity and sustainability, the PM also raised three issues; they included (1) multi-dimensional connectivity to increase economic opportunities, (2) promotion of partnership and collaboration-based connectivity, and (3) minimization of negative impacts that may occur as a result of connectivity promotion. Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak disclosed that Thailands rank in the World Banks Doing Business Index is aiming at a higher score as one of the top twenty by next year. The 15th Science Film Festival, organized by The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), is scheduled on 1 November to 23 December 2019. Under years theme, Humboldt and the Web of Life, the event will present various films for all ages, especially science films to encourage younger generations to raise awareness on science education and environmental issues. The Royal Thai Navy is holding a rehearsal for the Royal Barge Procession on the Occasion of the Coronation of King Rama X today (26 November). For this reason, traffic and transportation on the river will be controlled from 07.00 to 19.30 hr, and temporarily closed, from12.00 to 15.00 hr, from Krung Thon Buri Bridge to the Royal Thai Navy Convention Center, and from 15.00 to 19.00 hr from Krung Thon Buri Bridge to Phra Pokklao Bridge. To prevent travel problems, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) will be providing cross-river buses free of charge for the general public during the event, from 10.30 to 19.30 hr. In the meantime, from 16.30 to 18.00 hr, during the rehearsal for the Royal Land Procession (Khabuan Rap) from Ratchaworadit pier to the Grand Palace will be taking place, six roads will be temporarily closed: Rachini (from under the Phra Pin Klao Bridge to Phan Phiphop Lila Junction), Na Phra That, Phra Chan, Na Phra Lan, Maha Rat, and Thai Wang. The Ministry of Labor has launched a workforce preparation program and activities to create a career guidance network. The project is aimed at enhancing vocational skills for students in underprivileged families who did not continue to study after mandatory education in Lampang province. The Ministry of Interior disclosed that the Cabinet approved a campaign to promote OTOP products from the Royal Project Foundation and the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother as gifts for special occasions, such as New Year gifts for 2020.
