They want to assure the public that there have not been any infections reported from those places. The Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters (RTAFH) affirmed that it is monitoring the current forest fire situation in Nakhon Nayok province closely, and will use all of its capabilities to help people until the situation eases. RTAFH is now helping the villagers who live near the affected areas by sending its personnel and fire trucks to control the fire, providing equipment for making firebreaks, surveying the areas at risk for further prevention measures, handing out drinking water to the affected villagers, and more. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has called on Thais to fight Covid-19 crisis by shopping and traveling in the Kingdom. ICONSIAM has collaborated with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to organize the ICONSIAM, Thais Help Thais campaign, aimed at allowing those in the tourism industry to set up booths and offer their services free of charge. Offers include air tickets for domestic flights at discounted prices starting at 999 baht. Leading hotels will also offer room, food and beverage coupons at discounted rates. The event will run from today until March 1st on ICONSIAMs M-floor. (24/02/2020)
The Bank of Thailand (BOT) plans to develop a cross-border payment system via QR code technology to expand the number of SME customers, especially in Singapore and Cambodia. This activity will also help to enable transaction flows across the ASEAN region. Several Thai banks are making progress in neighboring countries, such as Krungthai Bank in Cambodia, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) in Cambodia and Myanmar, and Thanachart Bank in Laos. (24/02/2020)

The Department of Consular Affairs has advised Thai nationals in mainland China who have no necessity to remain there to consider traveling out of China during this period, while airlines are still operating. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans to launch a campaign to encourage Thai families to visit Pattaya during the upcoming school break. The TAT has invited 50 tourism businesses to participate in this campaign and offer special promotions and discounts to Thai people. Officials have sent home 137 Thai evacuees from Wuhan, China, after keeping them under a 14-day quarantine at the Sattahip Naval Base in Chonburi. All 137 are reported to be in good health and have tested negative for COVID-19 coronavirus infection. The Ministry of Public Health also gave them health kits containing essential first aid items, hand sanitizers, surgical masks, and pamphlets on COVID-19 prevention measures. (20/02/2020)
After Thailand applied extra-strict measures for screening and detecting passengers from countries at risk, as well as applying prevention measures for eight provinces that are major destinations, figures show that no more COVID-19 patients have been found. This means that the current number of infected patients in Thailand is stable at 35, and the number of recovered patients is 17. (20/02/2020)
The Cabinet has approved a 1.7 billion baht budget for constructing an underwater electricity cable tunnel from Koh Pha Ngan to Koh Tao. The project will cover the development of Koh Tao's electricity grid and power distribution capacity to supply an increasing demand for power. (20/02/2020)

The Royal Thai Navy disclosed that the new ferry terminal located within the Chuk Samet deep-sea port is ready to operate sea transportation between eastern and southern Thailand under the Royal Thai Navys supervision. Officials are cracking down on social media rumors concerning the COVID-19 situation in Thailand, arresting four suspects for spreading inaccurate information online. The 65th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, organized on a biannual basis by Thailands Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), will be held on 25-29 February at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani exhibition center in Nonthaburi. This event aims at promoting Thai jewelry exports and preparing for the effects of the COVID-19 virus situation. The Prime Minister promoted the Thailand Plus One policy during a meeting of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, to motivate new investors to use Thailand as a hub of ASEAN. As Thailand is now the chairman of the Ayeyawady Chao Phraya Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS), and planning to build the transportation and economic links between ACMECS nations, it is welcoming EU nations to invest in the area. In addition, the PM also assigned the Board of Investment (BOI) to publicize Thailand Plus Package measures to motivate European investors to invest more in Thailand. (18/02/2020)
The Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation has approved a plan to start rainmaking operations earlier than usual this year to mitigate the ongoing drought. The early rainmaking operations will allow the agency and related units more time to alleviate the months-long dry spell in various communities and to ensure sufficient water for consumption and agricultural activities throughout the year. Airports of Thailand (AOT) has prepared personnel and facilities at major international airports to conduct COVID-19 screenings, especially for those arriving from Cambodia, where the Westerdam cruise ship will remain docked from February 14th until the 21st. AOT is currently conducting daily assessments of the COVID-19 situation, in order to prepare and implement necessary measures accordingly. (18/02/2020)
In response to the impact of the COVID-19 virus situation, the Government plans to adopt key measures to stimulate the tourism sector and improve the shrinking economic situation; all related sectors will reach conclusions on the plan in March. The stimulus package includes tax reductions, financial assistance, and vigilant campaigns to mitigate the negative effects of the virus outbreak for hotels, service businesses, and their employees. Thailand and the U.S. will co-host the 39th Cobra Gold 2020 with a full-scale Cyber Warfare exercise being included for the first time. The Minister of Tourism and Sports revealed that MOTS is preparing a plan for welcoming Chinese tourists back to Thailand after the coronavirus outbreak eases up. MOTS will be proposing the measure of free visas for the two major markets Chinese and Indian tourists to the Cabinet for further resolution. In addition, MOTS, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, will be providing charter flight services to motivate Chinese tourists to travel in Thailand again, particularly during the upcoming Songkran Festival this year.
