The Minister Attached to the Prime Ministers Office, Mr. Omsin Chiwaphruek chaired the committee meeting of the Commanding Center for Situation Monitoring at Government House on 12 January 2016 at 14.00 hr. After the meeting finished, around 16.00 hr, the Minister held a press conference. The key points are as follows:

Mr. Omsin informed the press that the performance evaluation of the Security Joint Operations Command for the Areas Surrounding the Grand Palace, which is responsible for assisting the people coming to pay respects to His Majesty the late King Rama IX at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall, in the Grand Palace, was satisfactory, and there were 40,000-50,000 people coming each day.

The committee discussed the preparation of the Sanam Luang area for the construction of the royal crematorium and surrounding structures for the royal cremation ceremony of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. More areas in Sanam Luang will be closed to the general public in order to host the Royal Ploughing Ceremony in May. The Security Joint Operations Command for the Areas Surrounding the Grand Palace will cooperate with the responsible agencies to arrange the areas for people who come to pay respects to the late King. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration advised the meeting that waiting areas for people could be set up along Ratchadamnoen Road.

Moreover, Mr. Omsin expressed his sincere gratitude to all groups of volunteers that have supported the Governments work and helped the officials to provide food and beverages to the people coming to pay respects to the late King Bhumibol. The Commanding Center for Situation Monitoring has always welcomed their kind assistance.

The committee also discussed the case of Sub-district Administrative organizations (SAO) bringing people to pay respects to the late King at the Grand Palace. The Commanding Center had already informed the SAOs that they should contact their provincial administration about the number of people and the schedule. Then, the provincial administration will convey the information to the Commanding Center in Bangkok in order to enable better convenience and security when the people arrive.
